Studio
At last, after 4 years since I was recording my first album, I've had my first session in the studio and made a start on my second!
I intend to go in twice a week till it's done - I have 12 tracks in VERY rough version for my producer to start thinking about and various musicians lined up for their input on certain tracks.
It makes me feel alive again to get back in the studio - I love the recording process and having someone to work with who's sympathetic to what I want to do with the tracks and is a brilliant musician in his own right.
When I struggle to play something on the guitar that I can't manage - I can show him precisely what I want and after a few tries he can always get it - including the 'feel' I want otherwise it would be pointless.
I know it will be a long journey - the last album took over a year from start to finish but at least I have the songs and now it's one day at a time.

I'm looking forward to the results, Chandra. It's always interesting to see what time and life changes do to a songwriter. Your first album had a great feel. I'm sure this next one will be even better. Take your time and keep us informed.

Chandra ~ A good writer like yourself, a good producer and good musicians is a recipe for cooking up a tasty CD. Good luck and amidst all the work don't forget to enjoy it! Savor all those magical moments that are certain to occur because they pass quickly in real time but they stay with you long after the sessions are done. Studio time is like breathing rarified air. Everyone is focused on a common goal, professional relationships are formed, "happy accidents" happen. It's a collaborative dream come true. I'm eager to see the results.
