New Song - A Travelling Man
I've written a new song - it's been a while. It's a folk song with no choruses - not like me really. It's a about an old friend of mine who died recently. He always talked about travelling but didn't ever actually go anywhere. He'd sit at home and think about travelling and read about history and smoke his way round the world. He was with his partner for nearly forty years and when they realised he wasn't going to make it, they got married just a few weeks before he died. This is in memory of Steven. I'll put a rough recording of it up soon.
A Travelling Man
Steven was a travelling man
Though he never left this land
From his armchair in his home
Found a way this world to roam
Found a way this world to roam
In his mind he travelled far
‘Cross deep space to distant star
Soaring now his spirit flies
Free from all his worldly ties
Free from all his worldly ties
Endless trips through history
Witness things that yet will be
Travelling then and travelling still
Free to go wherever he will
Free to go wherever he will
Instrumental break
Steven was a travelling man
Though he never left this land
Travelled near and travelled wide
Left behind his grieving bride
Left behind his grieving bride
Left behind his grieving bride………….

I relate to this. I've only been to Tijuana one time for my travels outside the US. I've been trying to talk my spouse into spending some of our hard earned money to travel a little bit but she's a solid no on that. Would love to go to Italy for one, and France, and the Netherlands, and even Hawaii.

ah yes I love to travel - we're so lucky in UK it's only a short hop to Europe so easy to go on short trips alone if the spouse isn't in the mood. I've always had the travel bug and been pretty much round the world - I'm more of a home bod now but still enjoy flying off every now and then!

I love a song like this that tells a story. The words are great - can't wait to hear the music that goes with.

A simple lyric with a lot of depth. Good work, Chandra!
