Only You Know Who You Are
Well I've tried to record this at home and this is the result - it's got bumps and clangs but I hope it gives you the idea of what I hope to do with it in due course!! I wrote it in 2004 about an unrecquited love affair but have never recorded it properly. I hope you like it anyway.

Lovely song, Chandra. Don't underestimate the recording. You have a great foundation there to re-record it if wanted to but it's gets the mood and message across as is. Your voice sounds so ethereal and heartfelt. You're a wonderful asset to our musical community. You and Verity and Francesca are usually the only women who participate on the pipeline now that Delores is no longer with us. We really need more females here so the place won't become just another boys club!

Yeah, I like this Chandra, Bumps and Scrapes and all!
2004 is a long time ago, but this sounds like it was
recorded yesterday! Kudos!

Thanks for the encouragement - I do think the song's got potential. I wrote it so long ago that I kind of forgot about it till this year again. The person concerned is long out of my life which makes it much easier to sing now (if you know what I mean).
I did this rough recording recently on my newly acquired Boss BR-1180 which I'm just trying to teach myself how to use! I love the fact it's actually got proper sliders and knobs rather than just on the screen!! It also records the vocals in a way that sounds intimate which suits my voice so I'll have another go at it soon. I think I probably need to get myself a condenser mic and some proper software as this was done with my Shure gig mic and no mixing which I think probably isn't the best way!
I desperately miss the producer I worked with on my first two albums as he's moved to France and he knew exactly how I wanted to record things and never took it personally if I didn't like all his ideas - he'd just press delete till we got it how I meant! He could play so many instruments (like bass, great lead guitar, keys and could get the drum tracks as I wanted them so we didn't just use off the shelf beats but those I could hear in my head etc) so I could concentrate on the vocals and rhythm guitar and flute. I've resisted trying to find another producer and also it's been impossible anyway with the pandemic but I have enough tracks to do another album - hey ho!!!!
And yes - I agree there aren't many women on here joining in the conversation - the same in real life gigs etc but here in UK it's changing and you see a lot more female engineers, producers, rappers, writers etc than before - it's just very late for me to catch up and not what I want to concentrate on right now! If I could just record my tracks properly I'd be glad haha!!!
