Wow! Thank you so much for that wonderful review and for adding the song to your great station. I hope other people can relate to it as well. I always try to connect to listener’s emotions but it doesn’t happen with every song. Lyrics are very subjective. Sometimes ballads about emotional scenarios are not every person’s cup of tea. I respect that but I’ve undergone a catharsis where I’m more in touch with my feelings about my life experiences than ever before and I want to keep writing about these personal stories without regard to their popularity. That being said, I’ve been so pleasantly surprised at the reactions to the song that I’ve been getting, both on IMP and offline. People I know have been sharing their own stories of grief and loss the way you did. I’ve written many songs over the years and I don’t rate them. I love them all equally as though they were my children but I have to say that this song has given me the greatest satisfaction of any song I’ve ever written. It may not be considered the best song in my catalogue by other people but for me I would call it my “personal best” especially because people like you are so moved by it.

Yes when you can capture a universal emotion and get it across through your own song, even if it's a different situation, it's a wonderful feeling. A few of my songs have done that - one particular song someone I hardly knew asked me if it was about them!!
The one that gets the men the most is the song I wrote about me seeing my dad only twice a year when I was a child as my mum wouldn't let us see him more than that but the fact he always kept the connection going all my childhood meant we went on to have a marvellous relationship as adults - sadly he passed away in April 2022. The song is called Twice A Year and I always say to the men in the audience however hard it is, never lose the connection with your kids. I hope you like it too (it's on my artist's page).
But yes, your song really got to me.......let me know if you release it on an album or anything.
