I'm I Just Being Cranky?
You know, most of the time I am really a very happy man. I mean I am living a dream life and really should not complain much. But every now and then something annoys me. I have never been one to hold my peace when something annoys me. I mean, I always have to get it out and let it be known. Even more so now that I am retired and in my old age prime time. I know, I know, I have turned into that old cranky "You kids get off my grass" dude that every neighborhood seems to have. Well, I see IAC as an artist neighborhood and I just can't hold my peace. With all that said, Here it go right here...............................
I get really annoyed with certain people who come here to IAC just to promote a bunch of groups and artists that are not even members of IAC. Certain people (I won't name anyone) come here to the forums only to leave links to artists that they are somehow affiliated with. They never listen to anyone else's work. Nor do they leave any comments about anything other than the artists they are promoting. Their links are always to some website like you tube, Myspace etc. I am all for promotions but at least have the decency to get the groups you are promoting to become members of IAC. Then I will be more receptive to listening to their work. But it annoys me when I see the same blatant promo's for bands with links outside of IAC. If you want to be a part of the community, join the community.
Okay, the old cranky dude has had his say. I will go back to my studio and work on some new s#@t. Sorry if I offended anyone but I have always been that guy that says what a lot of other people only think about. I'm not scared to tell the emperor he is naked. Someone has to say it. Right?
There now, Breathe in, hold it, hold it, think peaceful thoughts, blow it out! Now, that's much better.........

agree.
that is, you are not cranky, just perceptive and aware that some do link up to other sites ( I do sometimes) but I am have been involved as a active member here for some time so I can speak freely on this subject and I do promote others music and support many here and elsewhere

Bryon,
You are an important asset to this community and I am always willing to listen to the artists you promote. With you, it is not just about promotion. It's about sharing ideas, insights and artistic information. Plus, you have some great music to share. So, you certainly can speak freely on this subject. The people I am referring to are people that use the site only to promote artists who have no connection at all to the site. They don't interact with anyone here or say anything other than their shameless promotions of their own projects. I suspect that they are being paid to promote and the only reason they are here is to spam us.

In a strange turn ---independent sites are tending to follow the old Industry models
always offering a deal where they will promote your Mp3---for a small fee L:OL
yep---there are so many host sites now, and we get continually asked to join new ones ----hence there are maverick promoters freeloading any time they get a chance.
but; they must be members of IAC to post here---
IAC is different---a community of sorts, but we have a dialogue going, and hopefully will rise again!

I'm doing all i can right now to be a part of that rising...but we're gonna need a few miracles.
The music on this site is STILL tops.
That's why I believe the MUSES here may eventually cause the ripple effect we need; so that more of the world will hear ALL IAC Artists, and people from all walks of life will get to be a part of this little Hait St. (San Fran) of the Internet; where an indie revolution has been growing for over 5 years now.
