Take Some Time Off
Just got back from a weeks vacation in South Lake Tahoe. Something about being away from the hustle and bustle of suburbieland that gives one a new sense of creative flow. Been writing massive amounts of new tunes from the moment the car hit the garage back here at home. I only come out of the studio for the evening showing of Jeopardy on the idiot box. Can't help it. My wife and I are both nerds. But she's the smart one. I just sit back and marvel at how great her brain is while we have an evening vape. Anyway, just wanted to mention how being away in a new setting seems to spawn new musical seeds. Been planting them like crazy around here. Looking forward to a new musical destination now that I have just about finished the Reggae project. Getting an itch to do an R&B Love Song project. If you are killing yourself on a job and not taking the time to bless yourself with a little time away. Stop it! You only live once and inspiration can come from many directions. Besides, you deserve a break. Right? My next outing is going to be Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on November 4th. Hola!

It's good to get away, out of the rut of day to day, but usually it's good to come home again (wrote this after returning from vacation)
That slightly musty odor as you open your front door
A strange familiar feeling, everything you’ve seen before
How dark and cold and quiet, how dusty drab and sad
You notice stuff needs fixing with the rooms so starkly clad
The mail box, brimming over with junk or final demands
You carry so much baggage in your head and in your hands
You walk into the kitchen and forget where things are stored
It smells so stale and dank, another problem you’ve ignored
You go around the house to switch on water, lights and clocks
There’s bags of dirty laundry, sandy pants and smelly socks
Once the fridge is fired up you stock without delay
That butter, milk and yogurt brought back from holiday
Next you pop the kettle on for coffee or some tea
A slice of toast with something nice… (oh don’t forget to pee)
Your vacation is over, the drive was long and tense
You swear that you will fly next time, it just makes much more sense
