Am I reading this right?
I've never opted in to the IAC cashstream, but I was just taking a look at the numbers. Is it correct that for each play I could make 102/100,000 of a cent? Could that possibly be right? What's the point? If I got a million listens at that rate, I'd make $201. I'm certainly not here for the money, but is it some sort of legal obligation that IAC has to us? Otherwise, who's ever going to make money here? Just wondering.

Over two years I've worked up around $40. I may go and get myself a new set of strings and a new amp cord at guitar center.
Seriously though, it was based at one time on plays from anywhere on the web that you put an IAC player. You would also be able to tell where the plays came from too.

I'm opted into the cashstream but it doesn't appear on my plays - also the content enhancement figures have disappeared now - not sure IAC ever pays out money but it's a great place to share music. Never sure who to talk to about these things either but hey!
If I relied on my music for earnings I'd be starving by now haha!

Don't worry about getting paid for streams. Just don't worry about it. Take a Valium instead. No one here is really in this for the remuneration are they? If you are, take a Darvon.

Totally not worrying about it Dan. Just piping up.
BTW, what's a Darvon, and where can I get one?

I agree that no-one's in it here for money the but the content enhancement idea did encourage people to pay the full amount for the Prime account as it made it look like it would help pay towards it - I paid a full five year premium.
I don't mind as I feel I get my money's worth by the interaction and pleasure I get from listening to other people, sharing my music and running my station but it shouldn't advertise something if it doesn't deliver it.
Amen.

I think Chandra said it with class about not advertising something you could derive a splash of income from music here whether it is , pennies nickels dimes or a dollar
the fact is, if there is an indication of receiving something and it is not honored then I agree with you Chandra, many have brought this subject forward but it never ever gets addressed properly, except those of us who opted in and then we sometimes are told to email the iacmusic control centre.
not that it is of any concern to me, I like the setup here as I have indicated before, no one is going to make more then a few pennies dollars here unless you got some magic happening and know how to pitch your music to the right sources and get money making downloads.
I think iacmusic is more for the musician getting their music checked out my other musicians and some listeners and those who like having their own custom made streaming internet radio stations
it is a way to interact with others exchange ideas and do collaborations with those who either like your vibe or vice versa

I've never actually extracted real money from this site via Kashstream but I have used the attributed amounts to offset the cost of my prime membership. Which by itself is useful.
Comparing with lastfm though the over place where im opted in for royalities the amount attributed (rather than actualy paid) are much higher, which is good.
It does seem to me though that it might be better to offer "points" to uise gainst your account and other features rather than the illusion of money.
I have google adds on my main website as an attempt to generate a little more money online, but I know from that that internet advertising revenue is quite a slow source of income, unless you happen to facebook or some similar site!
edit: fixed acouple of typos, no doubt not all of them ;-)
