I've been so out-of-touch lately - here's a new song
Since the end of August, I have been a long-term substitute teacher for a class of 30 first-graders! It has taken much of my energy to persevere. This is West Oakland - not the best of neighborhoods. But these little people are all about fun. It's a tough job - there are about ten kids that I think have serious developmental problems. That translates to plate juggling while lion taming. But it's so amazing to be a part of their lives - part of their learning to read and write. Learning to add and subtract. Learning that you have to raise your hand to ask a question. Learning not to hit back. That's a tough concept for kids whose parents have specifically instructed them to fight back.
Anyway, that's where my focus has been and I apologize for dropping off the grid for a while.
Wrote a couple songs, though.
Here's one: When You're in Love

Oh man, this is like a trip back in time to those wonderful days of Tin Pan Alley. You are an amazing songwriter. I am blown away by this song Tom! I love those sweet background harmonies and the breezy guitar licks. Sort of like watching one of those old time Black and White movies. This would fit right in there.
Much Respect!
