Is there even an audience for rock like the Who and the Stones anymore?
Sure aren't many bands making that sort of stuff. Listeners are more extreme these days, if they like rock it's usually metally loud for loud's sake songs. Mostly though they like softer singer/songwriter stuff and rhythm-based music.
