Yeah, the Rolling Thunder period was so exciting. Idiot Winds is such a great angry anthem. He just spits out those brilliant lyrics with so much passion and conviction. The rhymes, the images, the insights, ~ Jeez, what a gift. Speaking of Dylan and gifts~ I just heard that he gave 6000 notes, photos, draft lyrics, to The University of Tulsa for public viewing and to be analyzed by scholars. I truly think he recognizes his impending mortality and although it may seem counter intuitive for someone like him to be concerned with his "legacy", I guess he is and as always he is still the master of his destiny and the captain of of his identity. He built his career on being oblique (or perhaps obtuse?) but now he just wants to let it all hang out. He has more secrets to reveal. Mr. Tambourine Man is musician named Bruce Johnston and the song is about nothing more than the quest for inspiration and an antique Turkish tambourine that Bruce plays on several songs. (He also plays guitar)
