I have certainly had some encounters that caused me to pause. Most ntoable would be encounters with racists. Man, they really get under my skin and make me want to just stay off the internet. But there are people who are just plain negative trolls who only want to make others lives miserable with their personal brand of idiocy. Then there are the agressives who like to intimidate and control issues. They suck also! I try to avoid them all but there are moments when I just cannot let an issue pass by without commenting. Those are the ones that i put on full literal battle gear and go to war. Nothing pisses me off more than cyber bullies. They are little cowards who hide behind their keyboards saying all sorts of evil crap to people. Then, when you respond in kind they feign ignorance as to why you would do that. We have some here but they tend to cower quickly when you respond.

Well, Steve, you had a bad experience with me, too, but we're ok now, right? Hopefully?
Sometimes, it's a clash of expectations. Just try to work it out.
Stoneman, also.
I hope I'm not seen as a "bully". I don't think expressing your honest opinions is bullying, per se.
I don't think I've ever tried to just browbeat somebody on the internet. Or overpower them.
If I disagree, and think it's worth it, I will try to present my opinion in a confident way. That's not necessarily because I am impossible to convince that I am wrong. I may be waiting for you to present your own opinion just as confidently, and it's possible that I may be convinced you're right. It never ceases to amaze me that people back down in their assertions when confronted with a forceful counter. Sometimes I just want to see how sure you are.
I'm not sure how prevalent that tactic is. But if I'm that way, I am certain I'm not alone.
So, don't back down, if you're sure of yourself. But listen.
Now, trolls. Well, that's similar, but most often, trolls just want to laugh at you, and bait you. Learning the difference is probably worthwhile. Trolls will not be convinced of anything. They already know how to get the responses they want.
