You Tube hates my guts.
I did a search there for Father Time. I think I have 20 some videos on that site, including ones that have over 1000 views. It took me to page 20 to find one of them. In the meantime there were many, many with less than 100 views. There were duplicates. Anything but me. Then again my songs usually don't get much of a reaction here either. Do I suck? Nah. I think people are just turned off by my personality or something. But then why does You Tube hate me? Probably because I whooped one of their administrators in a flame war back in 02. Might've happened.

I can find my videos easily but they have almost no plays I think I might take them down until I get better audio on them as this is turning people off.

I think a better question would be who does Youtube love? The answer is that when you compare data of the thousands of users you can't help but come up with the assumption that Youtube doesn't love many people at all. From that perspective, your treatment by youtube is not so unique and should not be taken so personal. I get lots of love all over the internet but on youtube? My shit obviously stinks. I only have a few plays and likes on several songs. Why don't I get upset? Well, because it is Youtube. They are notorious for liking the stuff that I don't like and ignoring the stuff that I adore. I have been told that my poor marketing skills are the reason I have not done well on Youtube. But the realitiy is that the first song I uploaded there went viral and gained over 200,000 plays in a matter of days. Then the page was hacked and Youtube informed me that they were going to take the page down. Which they did and when I re-did the page and uploaded the song again the buzz that it had once had was gone. So, yeah, I could take that as a personal attack or something but instead I prefer to see it as another example of things that can happen on Youtube. Do I think what you are going through means that Youtube hates you? Nah, I just see it as another example of the many musicians whose music gets lost on the Youtube crowd. I wouldn't take that personal. We all go through that at some point. There are those lucky few who get discovered by the masses but that is more the exception than the rule.
My labels have marketed my music all over the internet and they ahven't had much success with Youtube either. So, don't take it personal. It's just the wasy thngs often happen on Youtube. You upload your work only to discover that no one is listening to it. That's life on the interenet. Get use to it! It probably won't get much better anytime soon.
Much Respect,
Stoneman

a catchy pic on the thumbnail for the song can help---our most popular you tube song has several thousand views, more than our best songs, just because the pic is outrageous

I'll let you all know how I make out with my song It's Sunday. I have an animator working on it right now. When it's completed I'll push the shit out of it everywhere and hope I get lucky.

I had about 400 videos up on Youtube, all I got was hardly any plays, and a heightened level of anxiety, then someone copied my artist name, and it took about two years of complaining to YT admin before they blocked the fake, after that I was so demoralized that I deleted most of the 400,
From the replies to the thread, it seems you're not alone FT, for a lot of us, Youtube sucks
