my first new release since like July
So I was at this tiki torch party on the beach a few weeks ago. I pulled this song out which I've been playin' since way back when. It went over so well I decided I'd record it, wtf. I only have one other cover song on my page. try to last at least to the guitar solo. heh
Hope you like it, click here.

Great cover, FT. I have that song on my "must learn" list for future live performance in SL.

I figured out while listening,
you were really going for the exact sound of Bobby Gentry,
just like I was going for the exact sound of Peter and Gordon.
And we both nailed it too.

Well I'm sure I absorbed some of Gentry's vibe of course, but I was pretty loose, just sang it as me. I'm a country boy, as depicted in this blog, I got a Pennsylvania country accent.

Yo. Dude.
Tell the truth,
you didn't speed that recording up?
Because, if nothing else,
I still give ya points for doing it in Gentry's friggin' key. For real.

Always sang it in that key, I guess from learning the chords off the record.
I don't think much about keys, I just do it however the fuck it wants to come out. heh

'you just do it however the fuck it comes out'
exactly. Me too. Great work.
And it's okay, that you nailed Gentry's sound to my ears...
look, I wasn't the only one who even noticed that, and I meant it as a compliment.

I always try to modulate to my best singing keys. This helps me to come up with unique arrangements.
