Stardom and fame what is it?
For me it would be to have an opportunity of something like that in the first place. I live in a small fishing town in the NE Scotland Peterhead. I would be the first one ever to be to do something like that from my hometown it is not known for it,s musicians. But the main thing i would like is the ability to work in a studio with all the gear. At my own pace really try and push the envelope how people perceive music. But traveling round the world playing gigs and doing pr sounds like a nightmare to me for 18 months maybe longer to break an album. I played the bass in many bands none were famous so i didn't have to do the pr who gives a shit what the bass player has to say anyway. For some that would be a dream come true.
At one point i was playing with 4 bands at once 4 or 5 gigs a week without practices. I could play over 100+ songs from memory week in week out. Travel hundreds of miles a week. It was either that or a fish yard at that moment. Working in a fish yard is the most soul destroying job. I would have made a load more money in the fish yard filleting fish. But then i would have ended being a junkie. Through boredom...
However i did think for a while that me and Anjuli had cracked it. But found that record companies were not that interested. California and Scotland is a weird combo not sure if anyone had thought of it then. We did get a small amount of interest from a few english labels. Nothing concrete it just fizzled out. Hey it was amazing fun i knew what i had to do so for me it was worth the risk. We were both very experienced musicians. I have 10 rules i abide by of any of them are broken at any time i walk away. I have done it quite a few times. I got some amazing to music to call my own Spacemen for spacesuits deserved a load more than it got still plodding away still doing it,s thing. What do you think it would be like for you?.
I am trying to pass my own personal experiences of the music industry it,s dirty it,s grimey everyone is trying to steal from you. As a friend of course poor Amy Winehouse and Duffy breaks my heart
