Paul would have been a school teacher, Ringo a drummer, John a avant-gard sort of artist, and George may have gone to prison for being to fond of young girls.
Who really knows though. Paul & John had the talent to make it on their own. The other, no.

Baloney, Gregg, all 4 are major talents.
I don't know if they would make it today, folks don't care much about rock music.

Bryon Tosoff

Yeah the Beatles were a super power all of them through years developed that group into a 4 headed monster that inspired millions of listeners and thousands of people to form bands
Unfortunately now people have iPhones and scroll scroll scroll , yes they are a blessing yet for many they are a curse and people drive distracted in accidents kill others and themselves but I digress thanks to all of you here you all have inspired me and here we are at th greatest indie site in the world!!!!!!!!

Wrong Scoot, I've met a few people from the those days in London & Liverpool. They were considered a good band but not ever in the top 10 of performing acts from that period.
They were on their way to oblivion when Brian Epstein took an interest in them, (Especially John, he-he) and became their manager.
And they broke when he bought the first 39,000 copies of "Please, Please, Me" thereby gaming the charts to gain the #1 spot.
Yup..., and that's the way it was.

Scoot , is that a new slang for Scott, ok your Subconscious mind basically told Scott to Scoot take off go away
alright then

Gregg, that number is incorrect you came up with on gaming the system , it was 10000 but I doubt it that was an accusation and not proven or substantiated https://www.timesofisrael.com/did-brian-epstein-try-to-boost-the-beatles-by-buying-up-their-debut-single/
Joe Flannery, claiming that Epstein personally bought 10,000 copies of the single, 6 October 2012, A new BBC documentary screening this weekend, though, claims Epstein tried to ensure the band got its break in a rather underhanded manner — by buying up large quantities of The Beatles’ debut single, “Love Me Do,” to help it reach the British music charts. If so, the ruse did not work particularly well, however.
Screened to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the October 5, 1962 release of “Love Me Do,” the BBC film, being shown in the UK on Sunday, features Epstein’s friend and business associate, Joe Flannery, claiming that Epstein personally bought 10,000 copies of the single, released by record company Parlophone, and kept them at the family’s NEMS music store at 12-14 Whitechapel, in Liverpool.

Can't recall where I read that claim, but it could be wrong.

Well Paul had already gotten his teaching credentials so he clearly had a back-up plan, John was John, he probably would gone on to something productive, George was a certified freak and Ringo was a drummer..
So what's so difficult to understand?

Did Paul McCartney get a teaching credential when he was in the Beatles?

No, Paul McCartney did not obtain a teaching credential while he was in the Beatles. Although he had applied for a place at a teaching college, he pursued his music career instead.

It looks like he took some courses at 18, but I suppose you're right.
Whadya think about George getting Pete Best canned? Do you think it was just jealousy because Pete was the most popular Beatle at the time or was there another motive for bringing Ringo in?
Like scoring with Maureen perhaps which he later did?

I don't think it was jealousy, Gregg. I think it was more about the personalities. Ringo was a better fit all around.

Gregg…. dude… Why all the hate for George.? The Beatles are in my wheelhouse, They are the main and driving force why I do what I do. I have loved the Beatles since I was 12 years old. I get it, they are Icons that still seem to get bigger after 60 years. People are always going to attempt to knock them down, tarnish their legacy with an ongoing chorus of overrated. They are not, and I still find things to admire about them after all these years. So..,if you don’t respect them as I do, cool.. there are many great bands and songs to get behind and enjoy.,pretty soon, Paul and Ringo will be gone.. John and George have been gone a long time. Please don't call George a freak, Not on this site full of musicians and writers who owe so much to them. I consider “ Something” one of the top five all time Beatles songs….George will always be in the Lennon McCartney shadow.. but he did shine bright and a critical member of the group. Respectfully, Jeff

I agree, Jeff. George was always my favorite Beatle. And to this day, All Things Must Pass is still my favorite post-Beatles solo album.

George reached out to other cultures to broaden his horizons.
Also, George reached out to other musicians, like Tom Petty, Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynn.
The Travelling Wilburys rocks, all 5 of them together.
Miss you, George...

Pete Best may have been a nice guy, I dunno...
However, when I took a look at his drumming with the Beatles, I mostly saw a drummer who massacred their songs, so sloppy, dunno how they put up with him for so long anyway...his mother was rich, or a club-owner, or like that, maybe that is why.
Must have driven the guys nuts to have a drummer so out-of-rhythm, and time...

Gregg, John loved to bash The Beatles legacy. He was horrible when speaking about them. He dimininshed the Band many times in interviews. The funny thing is if anyone outside the group said anything negative he was a fierce defender, like a big brother who was horrible to siblings but would also die for them if anyone else said a bad word or tried to hurt them. He also is on record saying he thought they were the greatest Band in the world! John was a brilliant man, but also very insecure and troubled.

John always said he hates his song Run For Your Life. I think it's one of his best.
Everybody should understand that Gregg's style if you wanna call it that is to antagonize, try to get under folks' skin. Often his target is me alone but he'll lash out against the Beatles and others too. I've known him since the year 2000, he's a pretty good songwriter but this is usually most of what ya get.

Let's see now, Pete did approx 1900 shows with the Beatles and they didn't even have the decency to release him themselves, they made Brian do the dirty work for them? (What a great bunch of guys..)
That and then zero royalties received until George Martin made it clear that the Decca Sessions were going to be included in the Anthology to make sure Pete finally got rewarded for his earlier efforts despite objections from the surviving Beatles??? (Again, what a great bunch of guys..)
And then there's the numerous illegitimate children abandoned by these wonderful Lads from Liverpool..., they know them better than anyone else.
And there's more, much, much more. Yes indeed.
But I could be jesting too,,, one never really knows..

Not under my skin.. I’m gettin too damn old and Mature for that.,To attack the Beatles on an indie songwriter site is hilarious to me as we all have a bit of their DNA in our songwriting. Even dear old Greg with the double G’s.as for illegitimate kids, never heard of any though they surely bedded multiple women. They all apparently got that out of their systems as Paul settled into a long dedicated relationship with Linda.. married a one legged witch after his money and then settled in for the remainder of his life with Nancy,,who he smartly picked because she was laid back and had her own cash! John? Totally did his first wife Cynthia and his little boy Julian dirty. Then for whatever reason was obsessed with Yoko.. who is not attractive by any standard… I still. don’t get it.,.. and then had a brief affair with May Pang during his lost weekend in LA. (That lasted months) like a good boy he came running back to Yoko when she summoned him home and dutifully knocked her up with Sean. This lead to five years of him backing bread and being a loving Dad to Sean.. which was a total kick in the nuts to Julian. Now to Greggs point earlier, I do admit George was a Dog …. Not cool getting with Ringos wife Maureen, and then letting Clapton totally disrespect him with Patty Boyd. He did settle down with Olivia, and became a Dad to his look a like Son Dhani. Ringo was an Alcoholic, who played the field until he met fellow Alcoholic Bond Girl Barbara Bach .,They both dried out and have been sober for years. They all have well known legitimate children, none illegitimate per dear ol Gregg. Gregg, would love to know who these kids are … So..,The Beatles are human with all the requisite flaws. I love the band.. always will, I am thankful for their songs, for their ability to transcend, and for the gift they gave me to pursue the craft of songwriting, singing, and simply playing. So Gregg… keep on hating. I hope it inspires someone to listen to them for the first time and they too can go on a fifty and counting year journey with them. Regards, Jeff

I don't hate any of them but I sure don't worship them as as some sort of higher power either. Good singer songwriters who without Brian Epstein as manager would have faded into obscurity and it was George Martin as producer who was clearly took their music to levels they could have never achieved on their own.
As far as the abandoned children go.. There's Phillip from Liverpool who received support from Brian and had a good voice. Then there's Bettina from Germany that Brian also supported, the same woman who later sued him and Sir Paul sent a body double to give a DNA sample to beat the lawsuit. Then there's Michelle from France who has been completely scrubbed from the net, a lookalike musician born in '61 who's father listed on her birth certificate is "Jame Paul McCartney".
And there's more, 2 in the States and 2 more in Canada that is known about by a well connected insider.
George had only one daughter that I'm aware of. He was going to seek her out to make amends but then decided that could upset her 'Karma".. A lot of good his spiritual enlightenment did for her.
And John supposedly had a son that was taken care of till age 16, again arranged by Brian.
Ringo? Don't know but it's no secret Paul did over dub much of his drumming.., while "Pete Had The Beat.."

Is it Gummies or did you actually roll a fatty and smoke it Gregg? You definitely are on a Magicsl Mystery Tour… I have no fricken idea where you get your information about the Beatle Kids. Ivwill leave it there and let you enjoy your high. ??. As far as where they would have gone without Brian or Martin, will never know but they were critical in their success. They def were not going anywhere playing in full leather outfits. The Presentation in the Suites was all Brian. Without George Martin their dings would have been diminished for sure.. Ibwill give you that. Peace Brother! ;)

Here's the review Gregg posted for FT's first record. I think he later claimed he was kidnapped and did it under duress or something. ha ha ha
Arrangements that remind the listener of the best days of the Beatles, while the outstanding lead guitar work is not only unique in it's form, but completely redefines how lead guitar should be applied to pop music. He can also command the attention of an audience with only an acoustic and vocals, and this is something few people can do well.. And lyrically, Father Time has easily equalled some of the greatest lyricists ever in pop music. - Gregg of Sterling30 - (2000)

That quote? I was having fun with someone who really was a gifted artist, Cole Gentles aka "The Count." in one of Scott's endless flame wars. I should have stayed out of that though, my mistake.
But back to Pete Best. It is a fact that he was again the most popular of all The Beatles and brought the most fans to their shows. So is it any stretch at all to recognize him as being the principle reason why they became the house band at The Cavern which made it possible for Brian Epstein and later George Martin to enter the picture?

Pete was an average drummer who tended to Lag. He refused to get on the Beatle Train, when the others cut their hair and styled the iconic Beatle haircut with Astrid in Germany, he kept the same Haircut and his fate was sealed. George Martin drew the axe, he could not cut it in the studio. Brian was the Manager, and the communication fell to him. I agree Paul probably lacked the grit to fire him..but Lennon at the time still put up with no bullshit and he certainly was not intimated by the prospect of facing Pete one on one with the news..Lennon had lost the fight to stay in the Leather, and was not happy with the Beatle persona but he was just ready to make it and put his faith in the new Manager and producer. It was true he was very popular with a large gaction of Fans, but they all had their fans...and its total bullshit they were jealous of his looks...especially McCartney who was beginning to don the "Cute" Beatle Mantle. Paul is on record as saying the first time Ringo sat in with the group there was a "WHOA!" Moment where they all new a profound shift in energy occured. So, yes there are many tropes and theories, and each can believe what they want. I certainly have mine and my views have evolved over 50 years of superfandom. I am please they are still huge...I was taking shit in 78 for not being into Zepplin and Van Halen. The Beatles had faded in just s short eight years. Its amazing to me that eight years now seems nothing, but that when I wa a fan..12 years old and 8 years after they broke up. I got a guitar, and the rest is history. That next year my friends and I literally conquered our Jr High wearing white shirts and skinny black ties. We palyed the Talent shows, and then were asked to headline our school festival. We played a mix of Beatles and Knack songs with a few early MyerSongs mixed in . So I have had a long, fun, and creative journey. We had a shot in the 80's to make a dent as a Power Pop band, but infighting and ego's blew up the Band. Anyway, just a little about my history, and why I closely identify with The Beatles. They still inspire me, and I am far from done adding to my catalog of tunes. I have 30 good songs that have stuck with me over the years , ....they are all ready to track, and I am excited by what comes next. Kind Regards, Jeff

I remember "Peace Of Mind" well Jeff, off the cuff, grand song, would have been at home on a Beatles album!
"Musical consensus, industry professionals, and The Beatles themselves widely agree that Ringo Starr was a significantly better drummer and a far better fit for the band than Pete Best. While Best provided a loud, energetic beat that worked in gritty clubs, Ringo was an innovative, melodic musician who wrote parts specifically tailored to elevate the song.
Quora
+1
The Core Differences
Technical Skill & Timing: George Martin, the legendary producer who worked with The Beatles, noted that Best struggled to keep a steady tempo, whereas Ringo was incredibly precise and played with exceptional feel.
Facebook
Musicality: Best was considered a "club drummer" who primarily drove songs forward with sheer volume. In contrast, Ringo pioneered highly creative drum patterns (famously favoring his left hand and playing in a right-handed kit setup) that became iconic parts of pop and rock history.
Songwriting & Versatility: As John Lennon and Paul McCartney evolved as songwriters, they needed a drummer who could adapt to shifting time signatures, delicate ballads, and complex arrangements. Ringo possessed the versatility to complement their evolving sound, a key musical shift documented in historical accounts..."

Yea… at least 30. They are the ones that I remember, which usually points to they are worthy to record. Most need lyrics, but I have titles and an overall concept for each that will lend itself to writing the lyrics. To be honest, it’s all about phrasing and marriage to the melody for me.. Inam not a great lyricist but if I can sing the words I can sell it . I am going to get to it, I am seriously worried if I don’t my voice may begin to weaken where I can’t hit the notes. Here are a few emotional ones that I need to belt out.
Thanks for the kind words on Peace of Mind Steve. I am proud of that song and the production.
I agree on Ringo as a Drummer, not flashy or technically great but he came up with parts that were creative and added to the songs He was great before click tracks were used. His personality fit great as well , a consummate band member. Regards, Jeff

I don't think a haircut had much to do with Pete getting sacked and George Martin was surprised when it happened saying Pete Best was fine as a live performer. And bringing in session players in nothing new, Ringo was replaced by a session drummer too at the beginning..
And "Lennon at the time still put up with no bullshit and he certainly was not intimated by the prospect of facing Pete one on one with the news.."
Really??? Then why didn't he?
I think that Pete Best was clearly a cut above the rest of them, and all the female fans that flocked to their shows to see Pete would certainly attest to that. That and Brian didn't have to constantly arrange doctors appointments for the same infections the other 3 kept getting from their sordid affairs not to mention other financial arrangements when unplanned pregnancies occurred.
And the fact that Pete's dismissal was literally causing riots among fans of the day is something that cannot be so easily be dismissed. It was jealousy from the others, pure and simple. It was Pete Best that truly brought the Beatles into the larger arena, and that is a fact that cannot be denied.
Pete Forever, Ringo Never!

Already said.. Brian was the Manager and it fell to him. What points to me is they were really not that close to him and did not feel they needed to deal with it. The Haircut? It symbolized alot.. he did not conform and further pointed to his outside the group status. There’re getting closer, Peter was not improving and the connection was not there. I’ve also seen Pete in many interviews, let’s just say he does not light up the room Veru monotone and boring, he certainly did not have the Beatles charisma. Anyway.. the only reason Petecwas in the band is he had drums and a place to practice. The rest is history.. He really was not owed anything , I am glad that he did make money off Anthology. Enough to help him retire comfortably. Pete never would have come up with some of the iconic drums that Ringo did. He was not content with just laying down a 4/4 track. He let songs breathe.. he came up with interesting parts. come together, In my life, I feel fine, ticket to ride, A Day in the Life, Rain, Tomorrow never knows I have been listening to the roof top Concert of late, they were at the top of their game, and I really appreciate Ringos live playing.. very creative, with a great tone Ringo Forever !!!!
