Genesis of a song...
Sam Phillips posted her song on IAC, "Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us." I love the song, but was unaware of the genesis, and references.
The first verse, "Strange things are happenin' everyday/I hear the music up above my head..." are from a song by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, from 1944. Sister Rosetta also played guitar, and influenced such diverse artists as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Johnny Cash.
Sam Phillips song, covered by Allison Krause and Robert Plant, became a huge hit and won a grammy for Ms. Krause and Plant.
Pretty different from Led Zep...
Also, T. Bone Phillips, the producer of the cover version, and Sam Phillips were (are??) husband and wife...
Great work y'all...touching on a mystery...
