The amount of constant irrelevant bullshit in the media about Barack Obama is beyond compare.
He's still going to win. There is absolutely no way McCain can beat either Democrat, also.
Hillary is trying to pass herself off as a country girl these days. As Keith Olbermann said Where is the shame?

Sorry, but you who hang with for 20+ years is relevant. You can tell a lot about people by the company they keep.
I want a democrat to win also, but I'm not so sure that's going to happen. All we hear day in and day out is constant negatives about each of them (that they are donig to each other), while McCain is already out campaigning in the general election.
It's not a good situation right now.

You can be heavily involved in a church, have several religious heart-to-hearts with your pastor, get married and have your kids baptized by someone and not really know the man at all. There is a wide spectrum of relationships one can have with a pastor, it's really a stretch to say with any assurance that being in Wright's congregation means that Obama somehow endorsed any of his wacko views, ever. Also, it's pretty obvious that Wright's newfound celebrity has sent him further out there.
The best chance the Republicans have is when Bush starts a war in Iran to help McCain.

That's actually laughable. If you're involved in a church for 20 years, have the pastor marry you, and have the pastor baptize your kids, it's because you know the person and what he/she stands for. People leave and join choices because they either like or dislike, agree or disagree with their pastor's positions.
Come on, man. I like Obama too and want him to win, but I'm not going to let that cloud my reasoning.
I'm sure the doctrine of Jeremiah Wright did not suddenly develop overnight.
Let's say I was running for office and someone said "Hey, that Nerol guy has music on IAC."
And I responded with "Well, it's true that I've had my music there for 4 years, but I had absolutely no idea that IAC stood for indie music. Yes, I have music there and yes, I've been on the forums, but I am SHOCKED to learn about its position on independent music vs music from major labels. And while it's true that I listened to their awards show, I am as surprised and outraged as you are to learn that it didn't include major artists."
How credible would I sound?

My parents belong to a church for at least that long. That pastor has presided over family funerals and they are even involved in some charity efforts with him but they don't really know him in any deep way.
What if they found out that the pastor had some strange views about abortion, or what have you? Would that mean they need to agree with him or sanction his views because they go to his church?
This Wright story is racial. Not about credibility, you've got to be kidding.

Of course it's racial. Not the dislike for Wright, but the piling on Obama with subject matter that has nothing directly to do with him or his policies. Why else has McCain hardly had to deal with any media coverage about several wackos whose support he actually has accepted?
Guilt by association bullshit arguments are being used on Obama almost exclusively. The whole Bittergate thing was a manufactured non-story also. There are many elements in American society that do not want a black man in power. They will throw up one red herring after another that has nothing to do with his fitness for the office to keep him on the defensive.
There is a total obvious double standard. Whitewater or having a blatant liar as a husband who did not have relations with that woman hasn't been mentioned once as an association issue with Hillary, not once and I've seen a lot of news. The crap is only being thrown in one direction.
Many are threatened by Obama's intelligence. They think having an bozo or an ambitious phony in power is a safer choice.

Yes she talks a big game but she's just a dishonest person. I don't think she has leadership abilities based on what happened when she tried to work on health care in Bubba's administration.

I can't contribute to the political references but I was surprised that it is assumed people 'know' each other through that sort of a relationship. It always amazes my that you have to get a passport (and other important documents) signed by "someone who knows you" and the examples are people like your doctor or solicitor or in fact, priest. I have lived next door to people and worked with people for many years and not known them - in fact there are members of my family I hardly know and with whom certain topics are never discussed. But again I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding here.

I gotta weigh in on this one ...
In the first place anyone who judges anyone by the people they know should have their head examined ...
As far as the idea that "knowing" someone just because you attend his church for 20 years is ludicrous ... if that were true I don't think we'd have so many children molested by priest ... Do you ?
I was married to a woman for several years before I "knew" her ... that is spending everyday with someone I thought I "knew" for years (not just at Sunday meetings) and I'll guarantee you, I never "knew" her at all or I never would have married her ...
The whole issue has been blown way out of proportion because it's the politics that this country seems to love ... If you can't bring your candidate up, then the American thing to do is to try to bring your opponent down ... People love to be negative ... they thrive on it ... they claim to want something different but as the polls have been showing they do not want anything different ... we are a country of losers and haters ... we are a country of no scruples or conscience ... we are a country filled with negativity ... and it's looking more like that's the way we are going to keep it everyday ... sigh

I think I should clarify my query about relgion in politics!
Firstly ----I don't believe George W is a christian in the real sense of the meaning of that word---I have many christian friends who agree with that !
Secondly ---I don't think any of the 3 presidential candidates are "role model Christians " either----but they all go through a christian facade -----for the sake of who? Or Whom?
I think it can only be the News Media who drives this-----Are they christians ?
--------who knows-----the only real christians are those who follow the principles of Jesus Christ ---and these 3 are nothing like him!!!
So why is "pretending " to be a good christian so important!!!!!!?????
