Mixing Something So Beautiful Tonight, Here at Midnight
But how can it be done when we only used 13 of the 16 tracks?
So peaceful here with the mix not even fighting me.

I know those late-night sessions with you, when your brain is in a whole different world. Always remember how few tracks the early Beatles had. If the essence is there, you can get a lot of mileage out of 13 tracks. Knowing that you're feeling strong enough to just say your mixing something beautiful makes me believe it will be. Looking forward to hearing it.

One of the greatest lessons I was ever taught in music is that quite often less is so much more. I find myself going back to that lesson all the time. Sometimes I record as many as 50 tracks of music, vocals, percussion's and effects. Then, when I start the mix down it becomes a delete fest as I find so much unnecessary crap that clouds the overall mix. As you know, a cloudy mix is like being in a room full of screaming people. You can't understand anything that anyone is saying. So it goes, delete after delete until only the most applicably harmonious sonic is left to pamper my ears and create recording relevance.
With my studio in my home I record at all times of night. Basically, I only sleep 4 out of every 24 hours (P.T.S.D.). So I spend a lot of late night hours in the studio plying my craft. Some of my best ideas come in the wee morning hours. At times it is very spiritual. I am also looking forward to hearing your final results.
Much Respect,
Stoneman

Yeah that has a very smooth and relaxing feel to it. Perfect for late night mixing. I like the lyrics for this song as there is a lot of innuendo and abstract reasoning. The vocals are clean. Maybe a bit too clean for my taste. But if that is how you like it, keep it that way. Personally I would experiment with a variety of reverbs or maybe even a doubled delay setting that give you a slight vocal trail. But that's just a suggestion okay? The guitar work is nice but the bass is a standout for me. Very interesting style as I can't quite define it. When it first started out I was reminded of Black Magic Woman. But it quickly detoured into a whole different vibe. Personally, I would wait a few days and then mix it again. I find that being away from a song for a little while always gives me a new perspective in regards to the mix.
Great Job Bob!

Hey, thanks Stoneman. I love the bass player and drummer. They just make grooves I can feel in my bones. It is sad we all live in different towns hundreds of miles from each other.

Steve! So great to see you here. Glad you put his song on your station. I've started to think of it as better than when I first made it. I mean, I like it more now as the dust has settled.
Do you have new tunes up?
