That would be Dr. Ison.
Steve has always had great posts, great stations, but most of all, great music.
I checked out his three latest:
Wish I could Say I Love You
Wow, did you know this guy does all his production just in little rooms with headphones? I mention that because his production is always so rich and big. This song has this swooping electric guitar going ear to ear. Just sweet. Love the use of reverb in basically all Steve's stuff. He keeps the sound alive from the good part of the sixties. Great vocals.
Clouds: Great fingerpicking and vocals, cool song.
Also a song from a band he's in called Naughty Things. This song is super rich in sonics, also.
I hae pretty much always thought Steve is an example of what a jip it all is. The guy has a day job and yet is clearly qualified to be one of the world's good music providers. Should Ison really have to put time into the day job when he could be making that music for the world? No he shouldn't, but he will have to keep slogging out the day job and then get to the music.
Lucky for him and the world that he can't keep from doing it anyway, because it is truly in his soul and coming out on tape.
I never say things like this I don't mean, so there you have it: I mean it.

Yeah! Steve has an amazing pop sensibility that somehow uses elements that are at once familiar and surprising. His songs have that quality of having always existed. He is a musical jewel, to be sure.
And I'm so glad to see him becoming an active and essential Pipeline poster again. Even his posts are melodious. Some people just have a way with the English language!

Hi all, gotta say - WHOOSH!!!
"Wish I could Say I Love You" - Like the Hollies having a session night with the "electric Prunes" around the time of the fabulous Mass in F minor.
Just when you think the cheery Hollies are going to win the day, the electic Prunes swarm in and the sould goes from ligth to heavy and dark in a blink. Brilliant in conception. Almost intended to punish the lazy listener, reward the stalwart.
Ahh, Steve, you've done it again.
