Checking Vocal Level On Mix
Hi people. I think this mix may be done, but is the lead vocal too loud? This is at soundcloud because the mix is not yet ready to post here at IAC for stations. This will just be up a little while to get opinions on vocal level. Thanks!

My opinion: Yeah, it is a little too loud.
Not just too loud, but it isn't sitting too well, either.
You think about doubling your lead? Might sound nice in this arrangement.
Also would love to hear some sort of instrumental break over the end of the song to take us out.
(This is why I try not to ask for too much advice on unfinished songs, I generally wind up with more than I asked for. So, take it or leave it.)
It's sounding pretty good, though, Bob. Getting there.

Yeah sounds a bit loud to me also but at least you can understand the lyrics. That is my go to process for mixing vocals. Can I hear and understand the lyrics? If so then I am headed in the right direction. I would say dial it back a bit but make sure you can still understand the lyrics. If you cannot then you have gone too far. You might want to get someone else who doesn't know the song to listen also because you already have the lyrics in your head which could give the false feeling of hearing the lyrics. This anomaly has happened to me often. Overall, I like this song a lot. Keep bringing that hit material. Respect, Stoneman
