Did I Lose Anything When I Mixed This Tune?
I did a, hopefully, final mix on "When Louis Armstrong Speaks." Hope I didn't mess it up. I still have the other one off mix though, just for luck.

I don't remember what the previous mix sounded like but all I can say is that I love this song and I love the vocals. The wah-wah guitar is exquisitely tasteful and subtle, adding so much to the haunting quality of the song. This is one of the best songs I've heard on IAC since I've been here (8 months). This song would sound great with any mix!!! Conceptually, musically and lyrically, it's brilliant and these are words I don't use often. You've taken the concept of "less is more" to a whole new level. Songs like this make me try harder.

Thanks Richard. That means a lot to me.
I guess I'm gonna relax and wire up to do other things. On this mix I had some little bit of cello in the first verse and then in the last seconds. My friend is dating a cello player (incredible player), and suddenly they were spending the night here. She played cool stuff over the whole thing, but, of course, there were traffic issues with the electric guitars and the harmonica, so I just kept some in the beginning before the electrics, and then in the last 10 or 15 seconds...
Also, added feedback in the last four seconds. That's all that survived of an attempt with my electric turned up to overdrive.

This is a fantastic song. Period. Personally I would have liked to hear more cello as I really dug what poked through from time to time, but hey, I'll take this song any way I can get it.
Excellent work Bob, thanks!

Love the new mix. You didn't ruin it at all.
I have listened to this song a lot, and all of a sudden I noticed you had changed it and was gonna come find you and tell you how awesome it is but then I saw you made this forum so that worked out!

Hey thanks, guys. It is a very different thing for me to mix songs as a I go along. Usually I wait 'til I have a full cd's worth and then I crush my soul for months mixing it all.
This is so much lighter. I finished two songs so far. This one and "Captain's Wife."
When I do it this way, I'm way more into mixing since the song is still just being created, and I haven't already been mixing for weeks.
