Alternative Retro and Psychedelic
That's where I place most of my songs. I don't know where else to say they go. They kind of are those things.
That's a tricky thing at all music sites, which category you put your song in, and you have to choose one.
Hell, I don't eeven know for sure what category I'd use even i I could make my own.
Maybe it's Alternative Retro and Psychedelic...

Your category is "Bob Elliott Music" and you're the only one in that category. You're in a class by yourself! It's definitely alternative, but I know you're influenced by more diverse artists than anyone I know. You are truly a mutt. Your words are getting more psychedelic but your music is pretty earthy. The retro part is just cuz you're old (I mean experienced).
It's too bad that we have to be categorized, but if it helps people decide whether or not to take that initial foray into our music, then I guess it's helpful. We all judge books by their cover, despite the old adage to the contrary. Think of your category as an advertisement. What's going to pique the listener's interest and make them listen further? Once you've hooked them with the ad, you can't help but convince them of the value of the product.
With you, I think of the words "genuine" "raw" "emotional" and yes "psychedelic."

I put about half of my stuff in that category too. That's the hardest part for me, trying to figure out what category to use. I really like that we can create custom categories here, even though there's still the trouble of picking the main category.

Hey Bob,
I got a song in there too. So you invented it ? Works for me. The song's thrashy ( alternative ) , played by an old geezer ( retro ) and has a through written doof doof drum line ( psychedelic ), so I think you might be into something. Congrats Bob, you're the inventer of ARP !

Is it strange that we are #3 on the Metal charts and #7 in Folk? Genres are strange. But yeah Bob, that's where I would put you man, plus maybe a bit o' bluesy folksyishness from time to time.
