Happiness isn’t as inspiring...
Happiness isn’t as inspiring as I hoped it would be. When I’m happy, I barely write. I always have to rewind my life to the moment of deepest pain to write lyrics. Guess it’s because when I’m happy, I don’t feel the deep to let it all out. I let it all out because I don’t want it inside me, I don’t want to feel it anymore, so I write it away to sing it away. But happiness? I want to keep it. I cling on to it so that’s why I don’t write about it, because I might sing it away as well.

interesting take DeMonicka,
we are creatures full of various hopes and dreams and aspirations . sometimes they get shattered or maybe just delayed, musically it reveals itself accordingly with our inventions, or perhaps we are influenced by love, or lack thereof.
perhaps a love for someone is lost, that kindred spirit we hoped would last forever evaporates, or we fall out of love and wonder why, . and we as artists respond in kind,.
Pain is a short term thing, for me anyways, and we have to acknowledge and I deal with those emotions by writing something, or immediately;y going to the piano ,put on the H2 or Q3 recorders and play something off the cuff, improvisational, but it turns out very structured and well arranged
I have to agree though some of my best works in instrumentals have been when i have been in a strange morose or down mood. But then again I like to clarify at this stage in my life I do songs I hope are inspirational and uplifting and more positive. Although I have to state that there are many dark and brooding ones as well

It is often said that the best art is made from troubled times. That is how it is for me too, lyrically, anyway. However when I am steeped in problems, i don't end up making much music, my best conditions for actually turning on my studio or picking up my guitar come when I am problem free and have the luxury to flow, if that makes any sense.
