Making your own world-in the music business
What stands out most here at IMPNATION is that we, as MUSICIANS, is that we are not chasing trends..we me you are building our own lane.
And that in itself defines here at this INDIE COMMUNITY
That kind of originality is exactly what cuts through the noise and builds a real, loyal audience.
This is how I promoted the artists I worked with , they all had their own brand of music that they developed and that is why I promoted them in my 20 years in my business at voodoohead productions
I built up well connected relationship with the radio djs and music directors during my time pitching artists music (terrestrial and online)
I was the first line of defence3 so to speak, a filter of sorts that the people I worked with in radio relied on my ability to give them the best artists i the genre they represented.
I would mail them cds (at first way back maybe even 25 years ago now that I think of it, since i have been out of the promo biz for about 5 years, wow, unreal that went by fast
anyways I would get packets of cds , listen review evaluated and determine who would make the cut. And in the years I did this djs and music directors trusted my judgement and would always take on the artists I submitted music to.
Of course there er many who I turned down, I might have selected 10 - 15 percent of the submissions I got in the mail , or as pdf mp3 packs
It was always though to let people know I could not do the job for them and the cost, it cost money to do all this and my fees were fair and i got good results
anyways a bit of my back story of who I am what I did and how it shaped me and those I worked with
continue on my fellow music workers
