Hide Away (Demo) by The Jay Dyall Project
http://indiemusicpeople.com/songs.aspx?SongID=96481&ArtistID=102606
Hi. Placed a song here to get some reviews and commentary.
Lyrics are on page in link above.
It is a collaboration song, and it is a Demo version, so excuse the low quality of my vocals.
I just did a one take go through with it.
The song will have a new vocalist on it soon, once one is found.
Any volunteers? LOL

So yeah the vocals are lo-fi I get it I have done the same thing just to get a demo out there.
It makes wonder why you put the vocals so far in front of the mix when you know they are not that good quality? If I did it I would have pushed them back further.
The rest of the song and production seemed alright nothing stood out and grabbed my attention. Genre I'm not sure where it fits maybe folk maybe not.
If I did vocals on your song I might take some liberties with some of the lyrics but it would be the same cadence and message. You can stop by my page and hear my vocals if your interested you could send me the track no vocal and I could send you one back with vocal. If you keep it all I would ask is performance credit.
Keep on truckin,
TSC

Thanks for the input.
Normally I record vocals onto the 8track recorder singing along to the music,
but I was having a hard time with the board today
(I still use analog machines and they are on its way to Bye-Bye Land soon, lol),
so I decided to record vocals directly into the laptop using Audacity.
Apparently there is some issue with delay and latency by doing so and I never
did learn how to fix that (outside of using an MBox or other interface, which currently I don't have). Well if the production seems alright, I don't mind it not standing out so much, as this song will probably be re-recorded by another band in the future. Maybe.
If I were to rerecord it as one of my official releases then I will do a better mix.
If I consider you to sing this song, I have to say no major changes to lyrics, as I myself had taken liberty with the lyrics which were written by someone else. I had to add 3 whole lines and a few words here and there in order to fit the track I already had composed. I(n fact the bridge was originally penned as a verse).
If you do decide to record this song, then, of course you will be credited as a featured vocalist. (TJDP Featuring Ken Last-name)
Going to listen to some of your songs.
You can send me your email so I can send you Instrumental track.
Thanks again

I have some experience with audacity and latency I think I loaded an aiso driver for my sound cars and then was able to control it I don't remember exactly that was a long time ago.
The lyric changes if made would be minor maybe a few words to help the flow a little.
After you listen if you decide you want me to do vocals we will talk more.

Ken

Hi Ken. I just got word from my co-writer that he has someone in particular to record the new vocals with the tracks I recorded and it will be done this coming week. So since it is his call, I can not offer it to another. But thanks for the offer. Perhaps we can collaborate on something else in the near future!
Have a good day!

Okay, you mentioned the decision for the vocals so I won't talk about them. Very cool intro. I have played those chords many times. The guitar work on this is quite good. Love those rhythmic strums that hold up the overall sound. The drums are done perfectly here for this kind of music. As a producer, I would bring down the tingyness of the hats by eq-ing some lows and mids on them (if they are on separate tracks) or by bringing down their volume a bit. Of course that would just be a production decision for me but you should make it sound the way you want it to sound. This is only a suggestion. I like the music of this song a lot. Very nice lyrics to. Would love to hear it performed by a good vocalist. Hopefully, you will find the right voice for it.
Much Respect,
Stoneman

Thanks Stoneman!
. Can't do much on drums as it wasn't recorded on individual tracks. Making changes with EQ will affect the whole drum set.
Yes, I too am looking forward to the version of new vocalist,
it's being recorded in Ireland by an artist named Nigel Cuff,
who I came to find out is quite popular in the U.K.!

Hey!
The music sounds lovely, but the vocal is not up to the same level as the rest of the song, performance-wise or recording-wise. It sounds like you recorded those vocals in another universe and pasted it on top of the rest of the mix; does not sit well at all.
I'm sorry to sound so harsh, but there is no other way to say it.
I will see if I can check out the version with the featured vocalist, because it sounds like this could be a pretty good song.

Hop On Pop, I think you were listening to the older version, which was a demo, in which the vocals was as you said, thrown in there, which was just as a guide.
Please listen to the Updated new version in link below:

Thank You Stoneman!
That's why I didn't do much of an effort with my vocals as I knew
a better singer was slated to sing it on the official version.
It blew my mind when I first heard it myself!
I must have played it about 20 times, then watched the video like 5 times as well!
The singing did fit the "sound" of the music I recorded and I'm looking forward to my next collaboration!
Thanks again for your feedbacks, and your prediction!

You uncorked a beautiful song there, collabros are the way to go, with a gifted team, and results like that. LOL
Props for the musicality, production, the stellar vocals, and the lyrics. That "eyes and ears" remind me a bit of the Dylan song "I Pity the Poor Immigrant." "who eats but is not satisfied, who hears but does not see..."
Added up to m'station Sparklers...
