Jesse, just listenin' to one of my three stations that are overpowered by a multiple of your well-composed, and well-played tunes.
Your music, and Grega Habic's work on it, is stuck in my craw, man.
It's sad, but I listen to your tunes, almost as much as my own.
Seriously, though, you da man.
Keep it real, bro.

Hi Jesse,
Sorry about not being able to respond to your e-mail. I've made calls to Hot Mail and Road Runner and found out that the problem is a technical glitch with wrong msgs being sent out as the reason for the problems. I'll respond to your e-mail in more detail when I can get through. Thank you for the feedback about Broken Sky. Congrats on Circus being #3 in Rock. I predict the judges will place you at #1 when round 4 ends. Good luck. You've got my votes!

Hello Jesse! thank you for the nice note you left at my comments area. Oh it's a lot of fun! The Jam Nights stations. Thank you for the complements on them all linking together. Mortamor of Psyches Muse and I used to run it, I had to leave for awhile and so he took over for a long time and did all the wonderful comments under the songs on the stations. He's a good man! The concept used to be artists requesting other artists to be on stations, it was fun, wild and super constant. Since I'm back, I don't think I can keep up it. There's soo many artists on iac, so it's fun looking for the more active yappy sociable artists to put on stations for now. Like you! :)

One learns as much at low volumes as high, Jesse. Multiple monitor references are essential, and the worst quality monitor will reveal the most glaring deficiencies.
Hiking low range makes mud ... imagine a woofer physically attempting to recreate a HUGE low range wave moving at 50 cycles per sec while at the same time attempting to reproduce a 1000 cycle per sec movement at the same time ... and you chose to hike the importance of the 50 ...
So here it's got to traverse a very LONG path across the speaker channel within it's magnetic driver ... and at the same time attempt to vibrate (cross) to create a wave that's 20 times faster ... at 1000 times per sec.
The more you cut out the lower, the easier you make it on your speaker ... because you're not asking it to go long distances to pump long waves.
And so mud is wiped up.
Best,
Kev-

Thanks for your support, Jesse. Your long distance collabs are groovy and you're justly proud of them. I've done a number that way that I feel the same way about - and I'm craving both "same room" artistic development and gigging...so trying to take things to the next level...rock on, send me an e-mail if you want I can't resist keeping an eye on the blogs but I am blogged out and weary of that front so really am making an effort to check out for a spell.
Wonder when Anjuli will front The Red Light District?

...yah, to continue on that thought, one of the first things that goes out the window when you're doing music with someone is the age factor. I mean whatever killer riff, or lyric is happening at the moment does not have to be thought checked with "yah but how old is the guy bringing this lick/idea/vibe to the table?". It's all music, and the best idea wins.
I see you're in to lots of collaborations here. I've been doing a lot of co-writing ever since I started going to Nashville. It's a satisfying way of hanging out with another musician eh?

Just another quick thought before I go ...
My dad is a much better piano player than I am. Classically trained, he taught me all the "old songs" and he and I sang together and harmonized on them all the time as I grew up ... his voice blending well w/ mine.
Point being, I fully know what pure joy there is in working w/ one's beloved father, and I meant no slight regarding his abilities when I mentioned what to me was a very minor recording technicality.
My father passed many years ago from brain cancer, and I never got the chance to record anything with him. I would have loved that.
I'd be the last person to criticize such a thing.
Best,
K-

Same sentiment right back at ya ... ain't no bad blood between. Folks don't know that we talk offline too ... and the brush up is simply raising a little dust in the pipe ... and I've been online too long to take anything said personally.

Gave a listen, bud ... and the treatment of the kick is about dead on. While listening though, I noted the bite of the guitars was frequency stomping the mix ... meaning ... let's say mid range bite ... which occurs on elec guitars in the 1.5-5k range is the color red ...
The whole mix has a slight tinge of red to it because of the masking bite ... and the high end pays the worst price ... some of that interesting upper lead work gets buried in the crunchy bite of the rhythm elec.
The trick of the matter is keeping the nice crunch, but pull some of that red tinge out of the sound so that it doesn't hide the nice blue color of the upper ranges.
Mind you, you don't want to eliminate it ... because that would kill the sound; just try to hit that fine line where the blues can show through with their own color, but the red just isn't as hot.
Sweep a broad eq through that range on the elec rhythm ... you'll hear the red clearly in the area that tickles your ear harshly ... then gradually narrow it down to the prime offending freqs ... and pull them down to suit.
Nice piece, Jesse! I enjoyed the arrangement.
Best,
Kev-

Hey Jess:
That's cool! I only know that my ears are ultra sensitive because I've lost so much hearing over the years. I know that a half and a full Db makes no difference to the average ear, but somehow I heard it. I'm glad it came out great, now shop it for some theme use, you'd be surprised how many musicologists would like this piece.
Much good luck to you my friend.

oh, and I didn't wanna feel like a jerk in your favorite guitar blog by commenting there with all the guys, but my favorite is my Ovation balladier - damn thing cost me 1100.00 but it's the best i've ever owned and I love her. . . it is the elite model and it's pretty too, mother of pearl all down the fretboard and the holed out wing escuchians, laminations whatever the fuck, it's my baby girl. . . but I alwats have to tweak the bass and mid on the eq to eliminate the "ovation ring". . . . sure wish I knew more than how to arpeggiate a chord but I do what I can with what I got and that's all that matters. . . .
I sure hope i haven't offended you with my stupid request brother,

Good morning you future rock legend, how nice of you to drop by my appreciation blog and honor me with such reaction - WOW, is all I can say too, for very few give a damn about the passion of a listener for their favorite listens and I find it so sweet to find such a musical, and graphic arts, and probably many others too, talent as you being so humble and in such genuine appreciation of a careful review of your material - it must have been a long awaited experience for you my friend - tis a shame that most listeners don't take the genuine care and time to reward the great artists here that provide, freely, for our listening pleasure such wonderful alternatives to mainstream crap, a few feakin words of admiration and an attempt to let the struggling artist know what they think - anyhow, you mentioned in the blog that you felt you owed me huh?. . lol. . . well, there is one favour i would be inclined to ask for as emmbarrased as i am to do so, and that would be to please consider and that's all i ask, is that you CONCIDER ONLY her e-mailed request to you, truly, your decision about her request will be greatly respected by both of us I personally assure you and will not change my for sure respect for you in the least, but she is my younger sister and she really is fond of you and your music and it would just make the rest of her life I assure you. . . :)
that's all i would ask if you feel you owe me (which of course you don't dear) my friend. . .
peace to you and yours,
Batina

you expressed interest in learning how to post a link; what you do is grab the url in the address bar of where yu want the link to go to fr example http//www. . . . any how what ya do to make a link by any name you wish is to type; enter desired name of link here and when you submit you'll have an underlined link to the provided url in what ever name you named it so, i'll use up arrows to indicate ledft and * for right arrows for an example ok?
^a href="http://iacmusic.com/artists/AddJournalComment.aspx?PageID=112570"*to jesse music^/a* where up arrow equals left arrow and * equals right arrow
there ya go if i didn't make any sence sorry been a long night just let me know and i'kll try again

hey Jesse,
When I used the word "cool" to describe you that was shorthand for talented, intelligent, interesting, artsy, edgy, sensitive and generous. When your life is your art and your art is your life, you can't go wrong. Focus on excellence and success will follow. Believe in your songs. Put your whole heart and soul into every one of them and they will never let you down. They will pick you up and carrry you when you fall.
The more you put into them the more they will help you. My songs are like my guardian angels. They give me the strength to go on and they give me hope. The more of them I create and the better they become, the stronger I become.
Peace,
Rich
PS I like your new logo with the numbers. It's very...um.....cool!
(it reminds me of this TV show called "NUMBERS" where a math wiz helps the FBI solve crimes with math equations.)

Hey Jesse - just spotted your question about library music on my page. Try Pump Audio at www.pumpaudio.com - they will let you submit music, evaluate it, and if they approve it, add it to their library. Your music might just do okay there... good luck with it!

Ah, I didn't even think of that last track on Alien. It's been a while since I've listened to it.... but yeah, there is a bit of similarity between them now that I think about it.... maybe not so much musically, but they sort of feel like they're coming fromor going tothe same place. Time to revisit Alien, I'd say.
And no worries for the compliments, I really enjoyed your stuff. Somber is my current favourite - a real standout piece of music. So cool.
