A native of Virginia, Morgann McClanahan grew up exposed to a rich, eclectic musical mashup of backwoods church music and Top 40 Icons like Alanis Morissette and Jason Mraz. At the age of 10, she began to pick up a pen to compose songs; over a decade, a couple of GMA “Music In The Rockies/IMMERSE” wins and countless writing sessions later, the result is an artist who sonically weaves organic and commercial together in a way that is uniquely audible. But that wasn’t always the case. “When I first moved to Nashville at 19, I felt this enormous pressure to morph into who I thought other people wanted me to be, and it really messed with my head,” McClanahan shares. “I began to battle self-doubt and question if I was good enough for the very ministry that I’d always felt so strongly called to. Thankfully, God used that period in my life to take me on a spiritual journey of learning how to be comfortable in my own skin. Because of that experience, it’s opened up an awesome platform for me to encourage others to do the same.” McClanahan is slated to release her second studio album this summer, teaming up with GRAMMY-nominated and Dove Award-winning Producer Of The Year Rusty Varenkamp (Tenth Avenue North, Jimmy Needham, MUTEMATH). Every track on the project is written or co-written by McClanahan, and fuses her trademark hooky pop sensibilities with sprinkles of blue-eyed soul, acoustic, reggae, folk and hip hop. When she’s not touring, you can find McClanahan serving at her local church in Nashville or mentoring through KINDLE, a Christian music and leadership experience that inspires girls and women to discover their talents and live out The Great Commission. Whether singing, writing or just spending time with people in her own community, McClanahan views herself as a medium. “Keith Green once said that God was a master poet and he was merely a pencil in His hands…I also choose that perspective,” she says. “Even though I’m small in the grand scheme of things, being a tool that God can use to write love and hope in people’s lives, no matter the situation, is an experience of a lifetime.” ##### (For link to Electronic Press Kit, e-mail booking@macdaddymusicgroup.com)
