Tommy Ludgate releases her much anticipated debut album ‘Wall of Words’ mixed by Grammy winning Hugh Padgham, through the pioneering Slice The Pie vehicle.
At 22 years old Tommy Ludgate has the kind of wealth of experience in the music industry people twice her age could only hope for. She’s toured across Europe, performed in front of the likes of Simon Cowell and worked with some of the worlds most reputable producers and songwriters. On hearing Tommy’s recorded tracks for ‘Wall of Words’, four times Grammy award winner, Hugh Padgham, [Phil Collins, Sting and the Police] jumped onboard immediately to do the final mix.
Possessed of a voice that is as rich and soulful as it is cool and expressive, Tommy can deliver a ballad to break your heart but equally can uplift you with a funky gospel inspired tune. Tommy has been finding her own voice, and songwriting talents, citing Joni Mitchell and John Mayer as some of her influences on this stunning debut.
The album's long-awaited release is made all the more remarkable by the way it was funded… not by a record label advance on future earnings, but by donations from Tommy’s own loyal fanbase via Slicethepie: the revolutionary website which gives unsigned artists the chance to professionally record and release albums, while retaining 100% copyright on their material. As with all albums on Slicethepie, recording and release of 'Wall of Words' has been completely fan-funded through the sale of 'backstage passes'.
