Why political forums get such a bad name
It's because politics are serious. People get serious, they get angry, they get defensive. They try to compare the dialogue to talk in other realms, like to music discussions for instance and it makes politics look very nasty. I realized long ago that when you discuss heavy topics like politics or religion, a whole new set of rules come into play. I rarely if ever take others' political views too seriously. People often take mine way too seriously. Most of the time I'm outnumbered here. I believe that if this were like many forums I've been in where the libs outnumbered the wingnuts, most of the wingnuts posting here would leave. Some people don't like to feel like they're losing.
Many sites refuse to even tolerate political discussion. For me, in this era in particular, that strikes me as almost criminal.

Some people have nothing but politics to talk about. It consumes their very being and becomes the teat on which they must suck on daily. Add in a victory for their guy and they become belligerent and nasty. Accusing everyone who does not follow their mantra of being sore losers and other more profane names. The political process is made for conflict. Without conflict their is no fun in politics. I love to watch the comedians who do political humor. I mean, it is kind of cool to see someone make light of situations that inflame and piss off the masses. Comedians have got it right. The shit ain't important enough to have a heart attack from being angry and frustrated over it. I had a stroke in 2003 and the doctor told me then that I would have to curb my temper and become more low key. My solution was weed. It keeps me settled and too lazy to murder someone over their politics. People around here say a lot of shit that pisses me off so I don't come around as much as I use to. But its no big thing. I doubt anyone misses me being here more often. Politics is always a lose lose situation when you have a diverse crowd of people. Anything that makes you feel bad, angry or frustrated should be avoided. I think that is why political forums get such a bad name. The negativity that comes with such a thing can be astounding.

They are really a rare breed anymore...
To have a place where all sides and opinions can be brought to one place... is like a white Rhino these days.
Most political sites are one sided. And as I've tried to show by You Tubes censoring.... times are a changing.
This place allows open discussion even if it's not being used too much... we even find some places we all agree.
But this is part of the winnings of the American fight for free speech. No one censors here and there's no shouting ideas or people down. At least I haven't seen it.
I think you should be proud FT! You run the place... right?
It's not about winning or losing... we all take our lumps from time to time. No one is always right or wrong.

No we are basically uncensored. There are issues with one guy who has basically trolled me since the year 2000, right now he's being ok, but if he goes into that mode I chop his post and ban him, then he comes back with another name. That's about the extent of the moderation.
Hey Fonts, since I can't get into VSP, if you get a chance ask Patrick and Milkman to get their butts over here. :)
