Eclectic pickings with a slice of sentiment.
It could be argued that the point of "Art" is to hold the "Mirror up to nature" - not to hold the mirror up to itself ! Once the latter occurs there is VOID. There is J-Lo ! But this business is still essentially a free for all - is it not ? So, there is nothing on this playlist, that holds the mirror up to itself. This station is dedicated to the short force of nature that is the Basset Hound.

The Poems
The Tall Trees
In this track you will find a Burt Bacharach, Mamas and Papas, Carpenters concoction of pure Pop hook laden joy in a wholly modern indie production value setting. And it's bursting with heart. The pleasure this could give to people if commercial Radio ever gets that "content music" is still fiscally inferior to an out and out great Pop song. Ok rant over ! This is a wonderful, wonderful song. added to station 6/11/2006 3:21:04 PM

I Think of You
This isn't just a really good song - the production is so inventive, so refreshing. There is absolutely nothing generic about it - and how much music can you honestly say that about ? Wonderful, moving, sweeps your heart away. added to station 8/14/2006 9:26:13 AM

"Once knew a lawyer/Who dreamed of Tom Sawyer/But instead tried to get rich/His cash is his honey/And man isn't it funny/How he steals peoples money !" I just love the style of this track - it is a thing most rare, a song brimful of personality and insight. added to station 8/17/2006 9:44:45 AM

Indiscriminate Act of Kindness
If Joni Mitchell was starting out today, and she was a man, this is where she'd be - and this would be out of her top draw. Except he's called Foy Vance, and he's that good. added to station 6/5/2006 12:43:44 AM

A touch of Tom Waits here, but the metaphor is better than many of Tom's "..holding on to light, holding onto love" and the feel, the feel...is very real. added to station 6/9/2006 10:53:22 PM

This man is the best songwriter for Generation X and beyond alive in my view. Love Sebadoah and this a real step on. Find this guy's music - he's a special talent, as Morrissey is to us Brits ! added to station 6/18/2006 8:32:15 PM

Mercy
There are many great voices in the music business, and a few great singers. Great singers with great voices are all too rare, because a dollar driven world can't deal with them - and there's just not many around ! So I'm going treasure the combination outlined above, with a very fine song. added to station 6/21/2006 9:38:17 PM

Freeway
I loved how 4 Non Blondes cut through the music of the time - "What's Up" was one of the only 7" singles I ever bought - because it's so shockingly unpretentious, honest good and Linda Perry for all her myriad of top level skills has a fantastic voice. Of course she's also a great songwriter and this is very welcome, in that the metaphor develops so carefully and it's sweet when the singer finally lets go. Music for grown ups of the highest order. added to station 7/13/2006 11:45:03 AM
