I have worked with Ken on only one song, a funky jazz fusion tune where he did some tasty percussion. I appreciated his help a lot , now saying that, it took me some time to come around on his version of The sound of silence , did not quite appeal to me originally , it took a few more listens to properly appreciate what he has done, and on this interpretation you can feel the heartfelt vibe in this one and the arrangement is very carefully assembled and kept close to that acoustic groove. I understand completely having to deal with a family member who had clinical depression and it is something that really never goes away but can be managed. Very tough to see someone you love get crushed by this illness. The elements of the song: the vocals capture your mind and soul. the music drives deep into your being. Loving the guitar, the monster bass and solid percussion. yeah, depression well, it is almost death by a 1000 cuts and living on the razors edge . Huge Soundscape, almost overbearing, but got into it,an interesting conceptual thing, the vocal reminds me of U2 style although found the mix too much with that of the Orchestra string and bass thing and could not quite make out that pretty guitar accompaniment,just barely, nice vocals,, fine lyrics.
