Link it up
A feature of IMP I really like is that you can link to other artists. This is especially cool if you use it to connect related artists. If you have a band but your solo stuff is on IMP link it up, if you did a collaboration with another artist on IMP link it up, if you’ve covered another IMP artists work or they’ve covered you link it up.

Nice promo for this site and you're right, IMP has so many user friendly features and ways to link up, follow, comment, review and communicate. It should be everyone's go to for indie music really. By the way, I really like your quirky bio and the story of how you came about... and your songs ain't bad too ;)

I think it’s a neat and underused feature of the site. I’ve noticed from reading posts of the years (I don’t say much but I’ve been here a while. That’s me above in the OP as well.) that a lot of the artists on this site are connected in some way. Whether it’s linking to someone because they covered one of your songs I did to Two Silo Complex.....

...or linking to your old punk band...
(for example) Todd from Hop On Pop is 100% more interesting an artist if you know about his old punk bands Chew Toy and Cash Cow which I only know about because he linked them.

...it makes sense to link them. I figure if enough people do this you could dig some interesting rabbit holes. Just a thought.

...Hi Shane. I agree, artist networking is a good way to cross promote and it encourages people to jump down that rabbit hole on IMP. It's a great feature of the site, and one that I had not maintained as diligently as I should until you reached and suggested linking all projects I have been involved in.

It's interesting to think how far artist lineages reach, through collaborations and covers. Probably goes a lot farther than most of us think and really drives home to community aspect of IMP.

Also, thank you Shane for getting me involved here. Everyone should know he's been promoting the site for years (back when it was still IAC), and I would likely never discovered it otherwise. Presently it is the only place that I host my solo music.

I have a station devoted to covers by IMP members of other IMP members as well as collaborations between members. A member has to ask permission from the member they want to cover. There's some great stuff on the station and I urge everybody to check it out.

You should add Two Silo Complex’s cover my song Butterfly Typhoon. It’s quite good and I can assure you he asked permission.

Since Shane and Mike are probably two of my biggest supporters and I've done a production of Shane's "Butterfly Typhoon" and Mike's "The Passerby". Its about time that TSC comes out of slumber to deliver a combo platter from their combined effort "the sky hits the ground"

I've thought about this for a few years now but I was just daunted by the shear amazing work of this project and I felt in adequate in my abilities to do any of these songs a whisper of justice. That said at this particular time I could use a good TSC production so if my fingers are willing and able I shall try my best at the herculean effort of tackling one of these masterpieces.

Do your self a favor if you have not heard it or even if you have go back and listen to "the sky hits the ground"again its absolutely phenomenal.. I know this went a bit off track but the general purpose here in this thread with linking was showing support of other artist so I hope I didn't stray too far from the path. If I did well it won't be the first time.

Wow, Ken, I'm blown away by your kind words regarding The Sky Hits The Ground. Thank you. It would be an honour to hear a TSC interpretation of one of those songs. I look forward to anything you release, whether it be an original, a cover, Two Silo Complex or Roving Gypsies.

I agree 100%. As far as I’m concerned you can take your pick. I love how you turn songs on their heads. As far as I’m concerned your version of Butterfly Typhoon is not so much a cover but the mirror image or through the looking glass version. A balance, a counterpart, yin to its yang so to speak. I love that. Thank you for the kind words about The Sky Hits The Ground. Creating that album with Mike helped me through a very hard time in my life. I’m very thankful we we found each other.
