Jonathon's musical path.
Jonathon's interest in the guitar began at an early age. He began his musical interest with the piano at 5 years old. His Grandfather, who came here from Vienna Austria, and was First French Horn in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for many years, gave Jonathon piano lessons on a regular basis. Both his Grandfather and Grandmother were fine pianists and teachers and both offered their time to give him piano lessons since he showed such interest. At the age of 9, Jonathon decided to play the trumpet, as his Father was a fine trumpet player who did session work and was also a music copiest at Disney, MGM, Paramount and other studios in L.A for 26 years. Jonathon continued on thru junior high and high school playing the trumpet in Sr. Orchestra. At 11 years of age was when all his interest turned towards the guitar and guitar study. Listening to groups like the Beatles, The Doors, The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Allman Bros., CSN&Y, and other groups and artists that emerged from the late 60's. He is a self taught musican on the guitar. Jonathon played in many different rock bands thru the 70's and 80's and played in a power trio with bassist George Biondo from the group "Steppinwolf". Jon became a professional piano tuner in 1984 and tuned pianos on a regular basis for Hollywood Piano, Burbank Piano, and private clients. In the late 80's Jonathon tuned the personal pianos of CS&N for 2 years at their homes, he also tuned for Ray Charles on the set of "St. Elsewhere"in the late 1980's.
After hearing the great guitar work of Joe Pass and George Benson in 1978, Jonathon decided to expand his musical direction towards Jazz. Today Jonathon plays a variety of styles including adult contemporary (the "Paradise Destiny One"CD), also Brazilian Jazz, Standards, Blues, Bluegrass, and slide guitar. He is still continuing to grow musically, as his playing is constantly evolving, and he plans on recording more in the future.
