that thing rocks Richard, juicy fat vibes going on, great vocals. nicely woven together, really great listening, digging the tune, nice one Richard. well put together and stellar instrumentation. This one should go far here and do well for future pitch to radio if that is your goal...cheers and continued success with your writing and music works

Awesome work Richard! Great song structure and a wonderful theme of rejuvenation and redemption. Excellent guitar work and the vocals are right on point! Your work is always professionally strong. When and if I ever grow up, I want to be just like you Bro.! :)

Much Respect!

Thank you so much for the kind words, Bryon and Stoneman. I'm trying to put more effort into each song I write rather than trying to increase the number of songs. I want to keep my eye on quality control instead of quantity. I spent a very long time mixing this song because the previous mixes were not up to par. When using lot's of different instruments and vocal parts, things can easily spiral out of control and sound chaotic
or muddy. Nice reviews like the ones above make me realize the extra attention to detail is worth it. Thank you both for all you continued support for what I'm trying to do. I'm not the greatest musician, producer or songwriter but the combo of ingredients
that I present ends up being a stew that I'm pleased to serve. When you truly don't excel in any one thing, you just work harder.

It's hard to come up with anything that Bryon and Stoneman haven't covered - of course I agree with every word - especially Stoneman's about growing up haha ....

I do find it interesting that you say you want to pay more attention to quality control. Honestly, Richard, I think you got that covered. Your production, for one thing is something that I personally more than admire. It's always so precise and everything so right up front and clear. Every emotion and structure of the songs are un-obscured - if that's a word.

Also appreciating the upbeat lyrics. It's important to put those thoughts out there.

Great tune!

Thank you Delores! But I don't take anything for granted. As I've gotten older, my time seems more precious. I don't want to waste it by putting out product that shouldn't be out there. It would be very easy for me to clone my songs and to put out a lot of similar work but "sameness" is what I'm trying hard to avoid. Also, I tend to devote more effort to songs that came as a result of real inspiration and put the other ones on the side until they've ripened.

You've mentioned upbeat lyrics and I did have a long run of songs that seemed to have been mostly inspired by sad or negative events. I didn't plan it that way but that's how they came out. I guess I had a lot of tough things that I had to work through and I'm glad I did. Now I want to celebrate the positive side of things. I have much to be thankful for!

BTW ~ What makes you think I've grown up? ;-) I'm still the kid watching the Beatles on TV in 1964 and thinking: I WANNA DO WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!!

What makes you think I think you're grown up? hahaha

Also, I must not have expressed what I wanted to say well enough in my post. I would never confuse a thing done to perfection with "sameness". I sure didn't mean to describe your msuic in that way, believe me! I just think you're a great producer - consistently. It's obvious you don't take the same approach to each song.

Yeah, on the point about the lyrics, I don't think I was consciously aware that any of your stuff was being inspired by sadness or negativity .... it didn't strike me that way. I've been rejecting my own lyrics for a while now - even though I'm dying to sing ... because they all seem either too serious or too sarcastic. I really want to write some good ones that are light and upbeat but still edgy and true. That's what you and so many others on this site have down, really well. People who love to listen to music need to hear this viewpoint. It's really only the artists (in all the arts) that can provide it.

I got nothing but huge respect for you and your work Richard, absolutely.

Delores ~ you expressed yourself extremely well! I wasn't saying that you were expressing anything negative at all. I was just going off on a tangent about my process and that was not a reaction to anything you said which was obviously all good. I took everything you said positively. No worries :-)

Don't be so hard on yourself when it comes to your lyrics. You should put them out there and see what the reaction is. You may be surprised. It's not easy to judge one's own work. What you think is serious or sarcastic may not necessarily be viewed that way by others and even if it is, the words can still be valid. If you're dying to sing ~ then SING! That passion will show in the words.

I myself find that lyrics are the hardest part of song writing. Musically, I seem to have an infinite amount of ideas in my head but words just don't come that easy.
So I know how you feel but the more you write them the more they will come to you
when you need them.

I have mad respect for you and your work too, Delores.

Oh good - glad we cleared that up. I was paranoid you had misunderstood my post.

Thanks for the encouragement about lyrics too. You're probably right - just go ahead and sing something. It's just that I never had this happen before. There was a time when song lyrics would even wake me up at night and I'd go jot them down.

I'm sure I'm over thinking it - we all do, I notice. Artists here post some great as is tunes and then explain how they're really going to still work on them and fix things till they're 100% satisfied. It's just everyone loves the music so much I think, that we all make the best possible effort to do the songs justice. They sound amazing in my mind, and I always want to make sure I didn't lose anything in the translation to sound out loud.

Since the stats are no longer relevant, peer review is the only tool we have for seeing if our hard work is all for nought or not. Thanks for all the support.

Heard and added to m'station "Sonic Delights."

You should feel very good about "Brand New Soul" and in general. Would love to hear this on the radio. Kudos to all involved...

Thanks for the add, Steve. Three other stations have picked it up as well but strangely the song is not appearing at all on my chart page at all. Does that mean it doesn't have even one play? I wonder if any one else is having this problem with songs recently posted. I'm hesitant to post new songs until I understand why this is happening. I doubt the song has zero plays but even if it did, it should still show up on my song chart after more than two weeks. It appears on my song options page and is checked as active but is nowhere to be found on my chart positions and play page.

I have given up worrying about the song charts - I don't think they are working at all it doesn't mean no-one's playing it! There's no way of knowing how many plays anything gets at the moment as far as I can see! Everything else seems to be working.

Great song by the way - I love punchy short songs that are catchy and up beat like that!

Just heard this song - what a nice one! Your lead guitar playing is always electrifying. and this song has plenty of tasty guitar lines. It's an upbeat sound, even without paying attention to the lyrics. That's been a thing I've been doing lately - trying to listen to the sound without dissecting the lyric. You know I'm kind of lyric heavy sometimes. This song kept my attention musically, but the lyrics seemed right, too. It's got hit potential (whatever that is these days). I'm going to listen to it again, and that's always a good sign.
