New station from Mike Triba: Groovy and 60's Style
Groovy and 60's Style

Michael Triba is the station manager of this unique new station. His comments on my songs really made my day. Lot's of really cool artists are on this station and the blurbs for all the artists are ample and colorful. This is a prime example of a station manager going the extra mile to create a singular sensation.

Thanks so much Richard and Scott! I've had so much fun with this the last few days! I've taken my station from 37 to 80 songs literally overnight and have just 17 more blurbs to add and will do that shortly. You indie artists are all incredibly talented and this has been such a gift for me. My next step is to investigate actually supporting many of you by buying your CDs and/or downloads. I would also be remiss here if I did not thank 3 groovy people. Scott Stambaugh and Eve Delvecchio here at IMP who a few months ago joined the MonaLisa Twins club called Intergalactic and introduced us all to IMP. They taught us how to build a station and shared many tips with us. Christomir Rackov, my main friend there and I are the ones who immediately recognized the advantages of IMP. First, to further spread the word about our friends Mona and Lisa, and second, to become acquainted with many of you awesome artists and your music. Since I am 66 years old, my main "era" or decade of music has been 1963 to 1972. From 2016 to 2025 shapes up to be the second greatest music experience of my life. I want to give a "shout-out" to Christomir. He introduced me to many great artists of his young manhood of the 90's; folks like The Coors out of Ireland and Steps out of England. Many of the songs and artists I have on my IMP station, I've "borrowed" from his station "Itso's Earworms." Please go over there and you will see many of yourselves there as well. For me this magic ride began on April 2, 2016 when I discovered MLT on YouTube. It has gained momentum ever since and is getting better all the time; better, better, better! BTW, with my first 80 songs now solidly in place, and after finishing the blurbs tonight, my station will be launched to scores of friends and family via e-mail link and I will encourage all of them to freely share as often as they can and also come here and build their own groovy stations! For me, the fun has barely begun! :-) Mike

P.S. Richard: You, Scott, David, Sean, and Sharon from Motorbaby have all made my day and week as well; for your lovely words of appreciation in "Shout!" in my station and now here in the Pipeline. Henceforth as I add songs I shall always think of my existing artists first. You'll notice that I like a mix; 3 or 4 from an artist, then 1 or 2 from another, etc. Mini playlists as it were. I do the same thing with my Mp3 player as I enjoy the groovy variety. Mona and Lisa got me to say 'groovy" again after decades of not using that word; LOL!

Thank you, Mike - I appreciate you mentioning my station too. :)
And, obviously, yours is looking impressive now, with the 80 songs and all the blurbs.

Of course, I too will try to promote and show mine to as many people as possible...

You are welcome Christomir! At least 25% of my songs have been "borrowed' from Itso's Earworms; so thank you as well! The most prominent is "Wild" by Tinatin. As you can see, I placed it in 5th; right after my first 4 of 10 MLT songs. (Not a ranking though, but just how I want to listen.) After a few months I might just shake up the entire order of songs. I am here at IMP with renewed vigor! After a bit more work in my station, I will post it in IFC like you did yours. I want to plea my final case to the folks there how awesome and beneficial IMP is. Henceforth the main reason I'll again post at IFC is to share a song and/or video of an IMP artist. There have got to be more people there besides you and me who "get it."

Thank you for your nice welcome Bryon; much appreciated! When I bought the MonaLisa Twins DVD for their "When We're Together" debut album, on the cover they thanked me for my love and enthusiasm! So I reckon I must sometimes come across that way to others, eh? Music is my passion and the soundtrack of our lives; one of the greatest gifts from God. I have noticed you here at IMP, and can see you are one of the "veteran cosmic rockers!" (Moody Blue's reference; LOL!) Feel free to show me the ropes here, suggest any songs or artists to me, and make any suggestions about my station, please. You have many stations, correct? I would like to listen to one, so which would you first recommend? Thanks again for your kind encouragement, sir! PS: I see you on a keyboard, with a guitarist also in the photo. Do you have a band and are you also an IMP artist?

Bryon was also inducted into the Legends of Indie as was I and I have an Honorable Mention in the Year of The Indie contest. I have had 28 number #1 songs in different genres including the All Genres category and presently #1 in Classic Rock ("Water From A Stone") as well as 6 additional songs in the top 25 of that category.

One of my stations (Instrumentally Yours) was #1 in Guitar Instrumentals (now #2). My songs are played on over 350 radio stations. Sorry for tooting my own horn but I rarely do that. Once and while I gotta represent. This is the site that helped me achieve these things. The support of Scott the CEO, Bryon, Delores of Shoe City Sound, Stoneman, Rob Barrer of Silverwood Studios, JeffH, Lyin' Dan, Dave Walton of Fade To Black, Neil W.Young, Donna Levine, Chandra Moon, American Lesley Jane and many others have given me the confidence and validation to keep evolving and getting better. Being a member here for 9 years has been the most important thing I've ever done to promote my music and has directly led to my present spec deal.

Before joining here I had NEVER played my music on the internet and all of my song stats are based on listens/plays from IMP members only and not from Facebook or any other site and I am not a member of any other website. I have everything I need right here and intend to stay here as long as the site exists and will always help in any way I can to keep the site alive and to keep independent music alive by trying to write the best possible songs I am capable of. I want the world to give my sound a chance. That's my mission. End of horn tooting. Toot! Toot! (Sorry, I'm getting carried away!) I will now crawl back into my little humble hut and keep my mouth shut.

Wow; that is really cool Scott! I will have to re-visit the last GK Awards and Byron's artist page and listen to his songs. I consider it an honor and privilege to add the songs of these incredibly talented artists to my station. With each and every thing you, Itso, and the artists teach me about the power of IMP, it just keeps getting better and better! P.S. And Mr.Tosoff is a pianist! He is a PIANIST! That alone immediately warrants putting his works in my station, and several of them! Can you grant me a 1,000 song capacity?

Whoa Richard; no sir, shut MY mouth instead! Please toot away! Now I am even more honored to know that this Pipeline blog was started by an Indie Legend! When I get my final 10 of 80 blurbs written, the first folks I will contact are the twins Mona and Lisa and their step-mum and manager Michaela. First of all, I want to make certain it is alright to continue to use their photo they crafted for me for FanMailFriday back in October, for my station photo. Secondly I want them to realize the awesome company they are keeping on my station. I will be sending the link to my station via e-mail from California to North Carolina. In addition to that, my wife and I have dear friends in Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela. They will also get my station, and the main IMP website with invitations to become station managers, and to share this unbelievable opportunity with everyone they know as well. The fun has barely begun, sir! With what I have learned today, I may need to add 15 songs each month, with full blurb activity of course!

I would to know if any of the awesome indie artists here at IMP draw inspiration from The Moody Blues and ABBA specifically. If so, that artist's songs will be in my next station adds. Thank you! Thanks again Bryon! This has been an incredibly wonderful experience for me, without question. I LOVE your Jazz songs! Rock and Pop have always been my main genres, but Jazz is now a strong third. A few years ago I fell in love with Norah Jones. 120 hours from now her concert in Omaha will just about be wrapping up and I will be soaring by then. If I did not have restrooms handy, I would already be peeing my pants with anticipation and excitement! I look forward to listening to your classical songs and your Golden Kayaks. Along with Steve April's Moody Blues' influenced tunes, more of your works will be my next station adds! Gosh darn; these Pipeline discussions are almost tantamount to chatting with Justin Hayward, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Barry Gibb, Brian Wilson, and Roger Daltrey!

Do these Pipeline conversations eventually vanish? This one truly means a whole lot to me and I am indebted to Richard Scotti for initiating it. I want to direct my friends at Intergalactic, the MonaLisa Twins fan club here to encourage them to build their own IMP stations. They know MLT, but most (not all) are clueless about the hundreds of world-class artists here. Right now I am re-examining all 100 of my blurbs, mostly to add any info about Golden Kayaks over the years, etc. Maybe I can save the url to a web folder? Has anyone done that ever?

Well this blog will be available until Richard deletes it which he may not ever. Any blog you start will stay on your page as long as you choose.

Your last posts were very complementary to the indies, I suspect the reason there wasn't a big response was that these folks aren't used to having non-artist listeners here so they're kind of shy maybe. The pipeline was built for this of course but very few civilians dive into the indie realm, there is just this built in assumption that the best music makes it to the mainstream while most of us know that is not really the case.

Your station is great and ultimately what IMP needs more than anything are listeners like yourself.

I've started saving some of the great song reviews that station managers like you have given me over the years. It's like a digital scrapbook. When I'm gone, people can read about what I did with my life.
(Hopefully, they will also listen to my songs) I'd like to be remembered as an artist who gave his all to the creation of good music that resonated with people everywhere.

Thanks Scott and Scotti; LOL! I did "save" the post in my "IMP - Music" Internet folder. Ha ha; I also save all my MLT e-mails on an external hard drive and MS Word. I'll also eventually print them out and save them in a 3-ring binder. Yeah, I'm not too much of a "groupie" eh? I'm a 66 year man, but sometimes feel like a 14-year old girl; yikes! I guess that is my feminine side, eh?

I dunno Scott; I am really pleased with all the conversations I've had with many artists and all the appreciation and thanks I've received on the SHOUT! comments. I am now checking the Pipeline and my station more often than IFC. BTW, Mona and Lisa turn 23 tomorrow. IFC might be planning something then, but I have already said something to them on their FB page.

My "gift" to them will be sending them my station next week via e-mail and telling them what I'm doing with it. Later gentlemen; gotta leave for my part-time salt mine in a half hour! Pip and pip and Cheerio, is it? (That is for the lovely Brits here!)

Richard! I heard the news today, oh boy; and I'm the lucky man who made the grade! I just found out from Scott, that this station has vaulted up 43 spots, from #46 to #3 in the rankings! SUPER EXCITED about that! Though not really seeking glory for myself, recognition is very groovy nonetheless! The best thing is that hopefully you and all my other artists will get more exposure and song plays and more station mangers will "borrow" your songs from me!

I will now go to MLT with more confidence for final photo approval. The one I have on there now is from their FanMailFriday last October of my gifts to them. It is really cute, but recently they changed their main Facebook page photo. Before, they had a photo of playing a gig dressed in slacks. A month or so ago, they put up a new photo standing on a bridge in mini-dresses; a much sexier and foxier look for them, especially since they have great legs and knockout figures at age 23. I am hoping they will let me use a new photo that reflects their "new image."

I have been working on "Groovy and 60's Style" since January and recently really increased my productivity on it. I reckon that hard work and dedication really pays off, eh? I am surrounded with great examples of that here at IMP and it is truly inspiring to me!

Thanks again for writing this post Richard, and giving me a little platform to do a little "cock-crowing." I'd keep you posted once MLT responds to my photo request. After that is my "national launch" across the U.S. and into Latin America. My plan is to send the IMP main link and my station link to friends and family via e-mail and to encourage them to come here and build their own stations.

I can't believe how wonderful this IMP experience has been for me!!!

Thanks to you Richard! You, MLT, and the others are making the world groovier; song by song! I'm trying to play my station every day now; all 100 songs and 6 hours and 21 minutes of it. Not just to 'bump' all you groovy artists, but because I genuinely love every song.

Whenever I buy a new album (aka CD; lol) I listen over and over again until I virtually memorize every bar, measure, and lyric. When I wore a younger man's clothes, like many others, we loved to make mixed tapes on our cassettes.

My station is like 8 or 9 albums of mixed tapes and I LOVE IT! My 5 year old Mp3 player died this week and I bought another yesterday. I need to buy some indie CDs and downloads to fill it up again!!!

Thank you, Rob. Writing "Silver Wood" was a turning point in my life too as I'm sure you know. I had never written a song that was based on a true story, a tragedy that occurred in someone else's life. The impact that you said it had on you and your family and friends had a profound effect on me, not just in my approach to song writing but in my approach to life in general. It was my first year at IAC/IMP (2008?) and the bond that your "tribe" and I established was something that really changed me forever. The fact the song became #1 in all genres was just further proof of the power of keeping songs "real" and how that kind of story telling resonates with of a lot of folks.

The work you and your family have done here on this site over the years has been nothing short of amazing. As artists and station managers the Barrer family has been in the fore front of writing and performing great songs and promoting the work of others.

You are a great example of someone who never gives up and your friendship and support of me and my work over the years as well as your dedication to the betterment of the site has inspired me to become a person who never gives up either. I wish you and yours peace, health, love, happiness and all that good stuff.

Greetings Rob!

I am thankful to Richard for first of all, his incredible music, and secondly, for starting this Pipeline discussion. I can see that you and he have been good friends for years. I wanted to listen to Silverwood, but can't find it here at IMP however.

I went to one of your artists pages and being new here am still trying to figure out all the features here and how to get around. Fortunately I was able to link your page to my station. Yes, my taste in music jives well with what you are producing. So that I have things straight; you are a recording studio in New Zealand, an artist producing original music, and also a station manager with a host of stations? Do I have that right?

I listened to and watched the video of "Epitaph" and really like it! As my endeavors unfold here at IMP I want to confer with Scott as to how best to expand my involvement. If/when I build a thematic station empire such as you have done, I would like a station with solely ambient, meditative, and reflective music. The Moody Blues are my All-Time greatest musical inspiration and #1 band.

I also listened to "Long Shadows" and definitely see The Doors influence there. As the days, weeks, and months unfold I will experience much more of what you have to offer.

Finally, is it alright to ask here about non-indie artists? There is an international superstar from New Zealand that is incredible and that I love. I have most of her CD's, but I can't tell from her website if she is still producing new music or settling down to raise a family as she was married about 3-1/2 years ago.

Thanks so much for stopping by here to chat! It is great "meeting" you here and finding out a bit of who you are and what you do, sir!

Kia Ora Richard and Michael

Thanks for the kind words Rich, that was a deep emotional time and we surfed it well, but that intensity cannot stay at a high level forever, as it is also draining on health, and our everyday lives, but your are imprinted in my heart and soul and that is extraordinary.
Michael--yes we are a recording studio and family grouping with friends from our area contributing, we mostly play live gigs prefering festivals and outdoor events. We cover all genres !!!!!
our name here is silverwoodstudio or just click on the avatar.

Are you thinking of Lorde ?? she has just released a new album which has gone straight to number one in the USA mainstream charts it's called "Melodrama ".
she is appearing at some of the big festivals this summer in the US' her first hit was "Royals"

We are also supporting a new female artist "Aldous Harding" who lives nearby and is touring the USA right now, with a new album "Party". This music is quite dark and quirky, takes a while to absorb, but she has broken through for sure !!!

Loverly to meet you Michael and I will keep in touch

Thanks Rob! Ha ha; sorry to make you guess! I had never heard of this Lorde until last week when I saw her on Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show. I didn't like her singing or song. (Compared to the indie ladies such as DeMonicka, Francesca, and Tinatin, she does not measure up IMHO.) The little kiwi songbird that I love is Hayley Westenra. The purest, pitch perfect voice I have ever heard. Do you know what she is doing now? Having a family and playing the occasional gig? Thank you!

Really like Silver Wood, Richard and both versions have great merit! I like best the full sound of I, but the vocals better in II. I would love to hear either with your voice or Justin Hayward's voice. If reminds me a bit a some of his solo works. Of course, he does have a song called Silver Bird! More importantly, this is a song dedicated to the love of someone's life who died?

Thank you Michael. I too like different things about each version. When time permits,

Hayley Westenra has pulled back from her full on career as she has married (and possibly thinking of motherhood)---she bridges a gap between opera and popular music, her vocals are classic and well trained, and she is very humble, she will be back sometime------

Thank you, Ken. I appreciate those kind words. I know that you are a person who feels things very deeply and I admire that even though I know it comes at quite a cost sometimes. But it's better to feel too much than to not feel at all. It's the same with humility. It's both a blessing and a curse. I'd like to think of it as virtue but sometimes it can be a handicap especially in the arts where drawing attention to one's self is expected. But I have always been very interested in Buddhism and although I don't have the self discipline to observe all of it's tenets I do try to adhere to the concept of "ego-death", a loss of attachment to a separate sense of self and self centeredness.

I still feel pride in my accomplishments and the things I do for other people but I try to let my music speak for me. I express things in my songs that I could never express verbally in conversation. It's a form of communication that transcends the trivial nature of my day to day existence. I've always been a somewhat introverted person but not on stage and not when a guitar is in my hands. I've always used music to overcome my shyness.

I'm truly honored to be recognized by my peers at IMP for what I've done in music over the years simply because it's an indication that all my hard work has not been in vain. It's not an "ego-trip" but a validation that the long strange trip of my life has had and continues to have artistic purpose. I have deep gratitude for all the support that I've received here. It's been a life changing and a life affirming experience. My appreciation is boundless.

Thanks and acknowledgements to several folks here:

Thank you Two Silo Complex Ken, for your kind words and welcome. In the days ahead I will be listening to your music.

Thanks also to Jay Dyall for reaching out to me here. I will also give a listen to your songs. Right now my station is at 103 songs and I have issued an adding moratorium for now. I've worked hard on it and need a break for a while. I will re-consider in a couple months and maybe even create some new stations in the future.

Also, thank you Richard for Silver Wood. I knew it was a loving tribute to someone. Besides listening to music, I like to know the backstories and motivations to songs.

Finally, and mostly importantly, Rob at Silverwood Studios: I am so sorry at the passing of your beautiful daughter. I can't even bear the thought of it. As lovely of a song as Silver Woods is, I wish it would never had to be composed.

P.S. I just saw Lars Mars "SHOUT!" on my station. Was that the lead vocalist Glenn Rice posting that? Anyway, you have a ton of stations playing your music and many links as well. I have jotted down your name for future review as well. Thank you sir! So many artists, such little time; sigh!

Yes Michael, it was me. Thanks to Richard for the thread and you for taking the time to listen.

Though I don't think of myself as the lead singer.. we all sing. Dennis and I are the main writers and he sings most of his songs, me mine, but often a mix. We also write for other members to sing.

Ron has an exceptional voice, though I've been remiss in posting any of his leads.. I'll fix that one of these days. Jeff sings his own songs, though again I've only posted one of his many great tunes. And Bob has a total rockin' voice.

We all do harmonies, though sometimes the lead will just do his own, sometimes it's just two or three of us, but we're all in the mix.

The main reason my name has vocals first is that I rarely add more than some percussion, harmonica and very rarely rhythm guitar. I write on the guitar and piano, but all the other guys are so much better at both than I am, it makes no sense for me to play.

Anyway, I'm glad you're here and playing music. You're right, there's tons and tons here, mainly thanks to Scott who has tracked down other folks' music and invited many of the artists here.

You might like my Lost Beatles Tracks? station. I added your faves MLT as soon as I heard them and I completely share your enthusiasm for them.

Like you I've found artists that I really love that I never would've found except for station masters like you adding them. I enjoy surfing stations (Bryon and Steve April are two that we owe so much to), it's one of the easiest ways to find great music here.

One artist that you will surely want to listen to is Steve Ison. I noticed that you had Hugh on the station already. Both of them date waaaay back here. There are many, many, many more..

Thanks,
Glenn

The International roll-out of my station has begun; first to Intergalactic, the MonaLisa Twins fan club (which I will soon leave in favor of spending my online time here) and now here at IMP in my first post on the Pipeline. I will continue in stages via e-mail to friends (3 in Latin America) co-workers, and others.
