RIP Walter Becker :(
Always loved Steely Dan from the first time I heard the opening riff from Reelin' in the Years. Their first three albums are top-shelf classics. So glad I saw them live way back in the day.

That's very sad. Steely Dan was great. I saw them live once, took my spouse who was not a fan but by the end of that show, she was. Katy Lied was one of my favorite records of all time and Rikki was always one of my favorite songs.

Of any band or group that was ahead of the times, it had to be Steely Dan (Fagan/Becker). Several albums didn’t have top ten singles, but still got air time because of the superior writing skills. The attention and patience to detail that still surpasses a lot of the music today.
OK, they were a “studio” based entity for “the majority” of the time, but the end product of all the hard work and “top notch” musicians used showed the timeless results.
I myself love jazz/fusion and I truly believe Fagan and Becker helped to bridge a needed gap all the way back to the 70’s.
Tonight, I had a few friends and family over for a Q and suds. This was pre-scheduled pre-Becker, but I couldn’t help but bring out the acoustic and do

Pretzel Logic
The funny thing was, I had a freakin’ sing-a-long going! Iconic music that everyone knows the words!!
There are Haters that are just now picking apart the music and realizing what a lot of us did decades ago. This was a team of writers that knew their craft and perfected it! Too many of the best are passing in recent times………

RIP Walter,
