state of emergency in BC due to wildfires
we are under siege here in BC with wildfires consuming 1000's upon 1000s of hectare's of forest, and burning down many homes,, ok here in Vancouver, although up in the interior, cariboo some small towns and first nations communities have been burned to the ground , since this broadcast 16000 people have been evacuated and another 11000 in one larger town have been put on notice to leave at a moments notice in Williams Lake and many others on notice, 600 wildfires since may and large tracts of forest have been decimated. its early in the season and already the budget has been eaten up, could cost upwards of 500 million dollars or more. its tragic scary and unbelievable .
this probably will go on till the end of summer, no rain high winds tinder dry. we need some ton of rain.

Unbelievably awful ... we're just working on a song with a hook that goes "Stronger than fire, cold blue water" I hope so much that the rain shows up and soon!

Lower mainland is fine, Vancouver, all the major centers here , up the valley to Hope, there are smaller fires in and around Harrison Mills and Whistler, those are under control, things are fine in and around Mission, Abbotsford, Chilliwack etc, but parts of the okanagan ,the cariboo, northern parts of BC, some of the Kootenays, its the areas of Vernon Penticton Kelowna that could be threatened as it stands, it is fine there right now, although Princeton has big fires nearby,as for Williams lake, well the fire has now reached the point of evacuation of all 11000 residents and nearby communities. so everyone is heading to Prince George where they have set up schools, arena's and community centers to accommodate approx 20000 people

I never in all by life have seen anything like it.

Whoa, I am so, so sorry to hear of this Bryon. I had no idea and I hope they get this under control soon. Please stay safe, my friend. I've heard that parts of southern Cal are on fire as well. I think that Tinatin's "Wild" may become more fact than fiction.

its gotten worse, high winds fanning the fires in existing fires creating firestorms which create tornado like conditions and increase the wind velocity ,some people not careful throw cig butts out of their cars, huge grass fire in Lake country now. homes destroyed. I think even arsonists at work from what I understand creating more havoc, people are wingnuts, there was 10000 lightning strikes one night across BC

There are currently more than 2,900 firefighters, including 415 from out of province, fighting 162 fires in B.C.

37000 people have been evacuated to other cities. it is nothing like I have ever seen in my entire life, caravans of traffic miles long going to various safe zones, we need rain

fires are jumping rivers, the Fraser river a wide river and also crossing over highways, it is apocalyptic in nature, fierce out of control and destroying homes and business, and villages, no lives lost, yet
