Hey all, I've finished my Recording Tour of Love, visiting all 48 continental US states to record music with everyone I know and lots of people I didn't! I'm still in the editing/mixing phase of the project. When I get done, expect lots of new songs, and lots of very fresh sounding old ones. Multi-instrumental singer/songwriter/producer Zach Bardon incorporates Americana, jazz, folk, Motown, flamenco, blues, and a variety of world influences into songs which at heart are just good pop tunes, creating an overall style he likes to call "cosmopolitan pop."
Out to Sea The "sea shanty" from my Recording Tour of Love. Still not finished mixing but wanted to put something up. :)
Laundromat Lament I wrote this song in a laundromat. Or I would have, if I ever went to laundromats.
You Were My Sunshine (Part 3) A little gem from the Recording Tour of Love, featuring delta blues guitarist Brad Tretola.
Intermission While traveling through Chicago on my Recording Tour, I found a disgustingly out-of-tune Steinway grand piano on a seminary campus. It called to me. "Zach," it said, compellingly. I had no choice but to record this off-center old-timey two-beat stomp on it.
The Reason (A Grown Man Cries) The "cowboy campfire song" tradition is huge and wonderful. I wanted to write a song in that tradition, so... I did! I must admit that I love that romanticized ideal of a small group of rugged men relaxing around a campfire after a hard day's work, singing absolutely heartbreaking songs.
Django Fête A Gypsy jazz tune in the vein of Django Reinhardt.
Sunlight "Obnoxiously happy" Zydeco/oldies pop with a hint of flamenco. If the Beach Boys grew up in Louisiana maybe they would have recorded this song.
My Oxygen Ode to an important chemical element.
I Still Love You A song about believing Fate's intentions were not to punish you with love lost, but rather to test you with love temporarily withdrawn.
Missin' You A Minneapolis-meets-Nashville tune that just popped out one day.
Don't Tell My Heart An emotive acoustic ballad about leaving.
Let Me Be A song about the inability to forget.
Watching the Streetlights A song about life, and living it while it lasts.
I Won't Run Far This is probably my fiercest song.
I Choose to Lose Of karma in relationships.
A Day is Comin' Southern rockabilly meets the Negro spiritual. A happy union results.
Sorry A sad story.
Inescapable A reflective number about persistent love.
A Frock You Ban I just got my first bass! This is my first recording with it, all first takes, no editing. ...Ok guys, so I played acoustic guitar for a few years first. It doesn't totally suck. The artist has designated this song as non-chartable.
Vista 1 A piano stream of consciousness to test some recording equipment. :)
