Katie Naylor composes, arranges, and performs easy listening instrumentals with a flair for dreamy melodies and a soothing, positive vibe. ""I'm a salesperson, I help people find what they need. How apropos!"", she jokes of her profession, quick to note that if the opportunity came along, she'd chuck it all for the chance to pursue her musical passion all day. ""It's something where you can really be yourself, and what comes out, comes out.""
Music was Katie’s passion as far back as when she would visit her grandmothers house as a child and study her sister’s piano lessons secondhand. Her family was given a piano as a gift when she was a teenager, and Katie promptly glued herself to the bench, learning all the pop songs on the charts and picking up their arrangements. After completing school, playing live with other musicians would prove to be a turning point for her as a musician. ""I learned chording and arranging patterns from that experience, and started coming up with my own songs after that.""
As her professional career advanced, music remained a focus and Katie continued writing new material with thoughts of someday recording a CD. ""I just sit down and start playing. Something starts catching me when I'm playing it, and I'll lay that track down real quickly before I forget. Sometimes I have to come back and work on it, but sometimes all the pieces come together at once."". It would be more fitting with her goal as an artist, which is to create music, that makes people feel good, and takes their mind wherever it wants to go. Her desire to leave song interpretation up to the listener presented a tricky situation when recording the songs, which necessitated giving them titles. She approached the titles more like general ideas. ""Like you find in the dictionary, I gave them a title and then three ideas of what it meant to me. This lets the listener discover what it means to them.""

Less than a year ago, Katie realized that with advances in technology and growing internet-based options available for marketing independent music, the time had come to put together a CD. She selected a dozen tracks recorded on her home keyboards and took them to Maui, where she is actively seeking to fulfill her dream of someday hearing her compositions fully orchestrated and performed amidst live musicians. What a great bunch of musicians are available on the island to help her fulfill the dream.
Whether her future includes a record deal, soundtrack scoring, or simply recording more self-released CDs for appreciative fans, Katie will continue to create music from her heart, with the hopes of sharing it with others. ""I would like to offer inspiring music that doesn't really tell you what to think - it lets you go ahead and reflect on your own. I'd like to provide that conduit to help you relax, to touch your soul.""
