Hop On Pop planning to record again in the near future!
Of course, it'll really only be me and one or two others adding their talents, but what the hell?!?! It's new music from me and I am excited about it.
Just gotta wait for a bonus to come through, plan the studio time, and call up the folks that I'm gonna use. It'll be mostly the acoustic stuff, as I have no band now, but it is a start. And, of course, I will be able to screw up those acoustic songs in any way that I see fit, using the technology of the day.
Yay me.

Ran into an old friend yesterday, who just happens to play bass and live in the same town as I do. He said that he would love to jam. And he just happens to have ProTools on his Mac at home.
Now we're cookin'!
Let's just hope that he digs what I'm burryin'...

So...
I'm meeting with a guy today who runs a studio... and plays a ton of instruments, too.
Hopefully, there'll be something soon, after all this teasing.
We'll see.
Or, this could be just another tease.

"Every time a door closes a window opens."
(Is that a standard line or did my son's friend make that song title up on his own?)
Yay Todd.

It was a good meeting. I really like the guy and the way he works.
We recorded a demo yesterday (for "C'mon Angel") and will start recording some "real" stuff pretty soon.
Although to complete the album, I'm gonna need to get a band together and find an affordable studio where I can set up with them. (This place is just in the guy's apartment.)
Still... I'm on my way -- for real this time!
Maybe I'll post the demo today.

I actually have a date for the first official MIXTAPE sessions!
April 4 I'm back in the studio, recording one of my more-experimental arrangements for a very simple song.
Totally looking forward to it!
Nice to actually see the forward momentum pick up a bit.

Good luck with it - recording is second only to live performance as a good thing to do!

You want the other one I think

Thanks, Jilly.
The funny thing is that this one-man thing was the original concept for Hop On Pop:
Just me with other folks "hopping on", as they could contribute.
So yeah, besides the equity that I have invested in the name, there is that.
I just have to make sure that I don't stretch too far just eclecticism for its own sake. But I do think that I have a handle on it. And, especially with the folks that I'm hoping will help me out, it should be pretty cool.

Yep.
Saturday (the 5th, actually).
Pretty excited about this. I've even begun writing the liner notes for the album.
I also got some beats from a hip-hop producer and I'm gonna try to write a tune around that. And then, next week, I'm hoping to get yet another song recorded with my friend downstate.
Damn. I need money.
