I'm going to play for my son's 2nd Grade class tomorrow!
I have 30 minutes and I'm not totally sure what I'm gonna play and/or say to them. But it should be fun. I'm gonna let Cary (my son) pick some of the songs, I think. But I really don't know any cover tunes that the kids'll know so...
Yeah. Interesting.
Okay, so, what would you do?

This sounds like fun-------------!
Most kids songs are 2---3 chords so easy to learn ---just make sure you involve them in the music, give out percussion, hand clapping, or teach them the chorus line so they can join in---if you just give a straight concert, you may lose them , no matter how good it sounds-----
go well

I took my buddy with a snare drum to my child's kindergarten class, and took my jamman looper pedal, a small amp, and a mic. We did "Hit the Road, Jack" in a way where I build from the bassline and even add backing vocals...then let the kids have turns singing through the mic, or at least talking (only a few were brave enough to volunteer). There was a virtual riot of excitement - the kids LOVED the song and trying a mic. And the best thing of all was THE TEACHERS HAD NO CONTROL (lol)....
Rock on, Todd - have fun!!

We've actually done some children's shows. They are lots of fun. Our Rock/R&B band is called Stir. When we get called for a Children's show we call ourselves, Kid-Stir. It's a fun switch. We really dress up funny. I wear one red running shoe, one green shoe, wigs, funny glasses, striped sox, mismatched clothes. I've got some funny pics of our kids shows. We get the kids on stage. They don't really care what songs you play as long as you are smiling and include them. One time I made 100 shaker cans full of rice for the kids in the audience to shake. I had tamborines and all kinds of percussion instruments. I even had gazoos. (kazoos?) Some songs they really love are "Yellow Submarine" and "I'm a Believer." They love the doing the "Limbo" but you need 2 people to hold the limbo stick and keep lowering it. They usually like any upbeat songs they can dance to and play percussion instruments. You can even just make songs up with funny words. Have fun. deb
