You have the power... I know that I do.
Peanut-Allergic Son and Others Can Now Safely Attend a Ballgame
SCHILLER PARK, Ill. -- More than three million Americans are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts1, but one allergic young man will have no worries when he attends the Kane County Cougars vs. the Lansing Lugnuts baseball game at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva, IL on Tuesday, August 7 -- thanks to his dad.
Everything fell quickly into place for Western Springs' Todd Leiter-Weintraub and his son, Ethan, following a special request to Cougar management for a peanut-free night at the ballpark so that the severely peanut-allergic 51/2 -year-old...
Yeah, that's me. No matter how many songs I write, this is one thing of which I am most-proud. And all I had to do is ask.
It was apparently a success, because they're having the same promotion again this year. I just got my tickets.
The lesson: be an advocate. Don't be afraid to ask, because you just might get what you want or what you need.
Not posting this to toot my own horn, but to let you know that it's actually easier to get something done than you may think it is. Just a little effort. And also to let any parents of allergic kids know that The Cougars are not the only team out there that has this promotion. Just ask.

The 2nd annual "Peanut-Free Night" is coming up in a couple of weeks.
And, yep, we're gonna be there again.
Also, I've noticed a few other baseball teams promoting their own Peanut-Free games.
So, any of you folks with some of the same challenges that we have, check with your local team to see if they're doing a special night like this. And, if they're not, go ahead and ask them to. If they're smart, they'll do it and reach out to the next generation of fans.

Congrats Todd. Well done! The country singer Trace Atkins has a daughter who is extremely alergic to peanuts as well as some other foods. Maybe you should contact his manager and tell him about your accomplishment. I'm sure he would be very interested. HTrace started a charity for kids who have this problem and he's very passionate about it. I'd bet money that Trace would contact you personally to thank you. As you suggested: JUST DO IT!

I wonder if the local stadium would go for a human-free game?

Game was last night, and it was a doozy!
Sadly, the home team lost, 5-4. But there was good drama and a lot of good baseball. The Cougars' 2nd baseman has a helluva glove and the Loons' right fielder has a helluva arm.
Good baseball. Good fun.
And no peanuts!!!
Hopefully, this year was successful enough that they'll do year #3.
Or, maybe add a second peanut-free night?

I don't know anything about peanut alergies-but from the lengths you've gone to,the dangerobviously goes alot further than just eating them..
