A meditation for you:
Life is a memory
This moment has passed.
Get out and do what you need to do!
Waste no time, because, in truth, memories and illusions are all that we have.
Even the future is a memory -- simply one that has yet to be experienced.
That is all for my pseudophilosophising for the day.

I don't know if there is something in the air today but everyone seems to be getting very arty, philosophical and expressive - We love it, what a great community this is and how lucky and interesting to have so many people with so many talents!

I've had this as my meditation -- my mantra -- for several months now.
And it's ironic that I'm using it as a mantra, because it's a mantra that is also a call to action -- one that's telling me to STOP meditating, get up off my ass, and actually DO something!
I'm funny like that.

Now, please allow me to expand on my mantra... into a poem:
Life is a memory
This moment has passed
Memories and illusions
Are all that we have
The future is a memory
That has yet to be had
This life is a memory
This moment has passed

A fine philosophy - just remember to truly appreciate the NOW as well, even though, as you say, this moment has passed...

Not until you make plans -- by thinking about it.
It becomes as much reality as the past.
Both exist only in your head.
And both the past and your future plans can effect what happens in the future -- and both can shape your perception, as that future takes shape, as well.

Hmmm I had something really deep and meaningful to add to this thread but the moment has passed, maybe I'll remember what it was sometime in the future....what there is no future....we're doomed all doomed.....aaarrrggghhhh!!!

Somehow the talk of future memory has brought a funny quote to mind:

Not at all - it takes courage to philosophise openly about these things!
Here's one I wrote aged about 17... seems like another lifetime now :)
Yesterday, today was tomorrow
Tomorrow, today will be yesterday
If you are only living for today
You will be living for no-thing!

Yesterday, today was tomorrow
Tomorrow, today will be yesterday
If you are only living for today
