What is up with ukelele?!?!?!
It's not just here, but all over the place I'm seeing folks talking about and using ukes. Is it the hip new stringed instrument or what?
Dayum!!!
Don Ho must be smiling somewhere.

For me it was 100% Joe Brown and The Concert For George. Well - make that 98%...there's also the Paul and George uke jammin' in "Anthology"...and of course our own Eliz from Slow Commotion KIAC radio has gone public with the fact that she is a real-life cousing of TINY TIM!
Try it, you'll like it! My first uke was a $30 Hohner from a toy store - bought it "for my kid" a few years back...lol...

Finally ... folks are seein' the light that my Grandpa enjoyed for so many years ... He'd be proud of the resurgence of mandolin as well ...
Now if we could just kick up the "washboard" a notch or two it'd feel like home again ... ................ :)

Mr. Aven says he got a washboard...
My mom brought over a pile of sheet music so's I can play some old uke classics at the family gatherings...I had to laugh, those old-timers had a bit of a sense of humor - one tune is called "The Woodpecker Song" and it's about a guy taking a girl out under a tree and the "happy woodpecker peck-peck-pecking away..." LOL...and a song called "Ukulele Lady" with the lyric "If you like the Ukulele Lady, the Ukulele Lady like-a you..." If I find any old tunes with the stature of "I'll See You In My Dreams" I'll be surprised though...

I prefer "Everyone Says I Love You" from "Horsefeathers".

I actually played a live tune with Joe Jack Talcum a couple of years ago, where I played one uke chord the whole song...a couple of spectators suggested I learn a Steve Martin uke tunes - I think it was from the movie "The Loser"...never pursued that...LOL!

I've been playing Soprano Uke ever since I was young..
I now play both Soprano and Baritone Uke.
You should give the Baritone Uke a try.. because it is
tuned to the same notes of the 4 highest strings of the guitar.
While your at it.. check out my song "SunBeam" that I wrote with a
Soprano Uke and a Mandolin. ;-)

$5K?!?! Dayum!
You can pick up a decent uke for pretty cheap, actually. In my quest for ever-more inspiration and new sounds, I'll probably pick one up at some point.
