Say what you want about her boobies...
... but, first and foremost, Dolly Parton is one helluva songwriter.
I got her bluegrass album a couple of months ago (The Grass Is Blue) and "Will He Be Waiting For Me?" just kills me every damn time. I strongly recommend checking it out. Great songs with top-notch playing.
Okay, so I know that this is a little off-topic for a site as indie-centric as this one, but it had to be said.

She's been a lot better since she made the break from Porter Wagoner.

Oh yes, she's excellent - and apparently a good honest human being too, none of the celebrity syndrome!

Todd,
She is also one of the most genuinely sweet ladies around... a pro in every regard. She has saved many an awkward moment too. Just this past Labor Day, she appeared at St. Louis' annual International Steel Guitar Convention. She had called Scotty (the guy in charge), saying that she felt it was time that her long time due that her psg player be inducted into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. Scotty said, by all means yes, Miss Dolly... but only if you'll do the honors of giving the award yourself. She agreed. They tried to keep it as hushed as possible - haha...
Just before the awards, the room was packed... first Barbara Mandrell came out... and everyone thought that she was the surprise guest. After she inducted her player folks were stirring about... then Dolly appeared... great big everything... smile, boobies and all - she looked great! She immediately began telling stories of how she'd gotten into the whole business and met Don Warden, her psg player. She said that when she told her band that she needed to make a pit stop in St. Louis to induct Warden, her 3 career-long backup singers jumped on board... said they wouldn't miss it. Dolly then sang "I Will Always Love You" and "Coat of Many Colors" (I think those are the correct titles)... whole room had shivers and wet eyes.
In and out in about 20 minutes, but just soaked the room with love - what a presence.
