SIMPLE SONG
Just as a change, I wrote a simple song with a sparse production, just piano, organ, strings, bass and drums. No dueling electric guitars or other sonic enhancements, just simplicity even in the lyrics.

Excellent, Richard. I loved how you held that last vocal note when you had us conditioned to hear it going down on the word "song." The band is solid, but I wonder if you'd think about bringing down those last vocals a bit - they stood out to me. I love the idea that our songs will outlive us.
My Great Uncle had a home record-making machine back in the 40s, and I have 78rpm records of my mom singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at age 16, and of the first night when my dad's parents met my mom's parents, and my Italian grandpa playing the banjo and uke and singing songs from the twenties and thirties. He died when I was 4, but through these recordings, I feel like I know him. I wonder who will be listening to your songs in 80 years!
Congrats again on being Male Artist of the Year! It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m glad the song resonated with you in such a relatable way. I have a recording of my late mother singing and it’s something I will always treasure. She had a great voice!
It must have been a very meaningful experience for you to win two Kayaks as your first time. I remember the first time I won a Kayak. It was such a thrill! Your awards are a perfect example of the rewards of hard work and creative dedication. And congrats on your nomination for best male artist. Keep up the good work and you can’t go wrong!

Had a listen, I think it ticks the right boxes, I must admit I wasn't expecting the mellowness of the arrangement and production, and that was pleasantly surprising. :)
