My cover of Ray's song
I invite all of you to go my Artist Page and listen to my cover of Ray Porter's song You Were The One Who Loved Me As I Am which won a Golden Kayak Award in 2006 for Best Easy Listening/Soft Rock Song. I was so moved by the song, I felt I had to cover it. I'm happy to say Ray is quite pleased.

Thanks for the kudo's Hugh
Richard you have joined the ranks of some of my favourite artists who have covered my songs.
Hugh Hamilton was the first when he covered an old song of mine called "Blue Skies" and it was brilliant and to hear someone record one of my songs so well was just the biggest compliment i could get. Then came another great with Dick Aven covering "Everyones A Part Of Everything Tthey Love" . Now for the third time I am thrilled to hear a wonderful cover of what is probably my most personal song. I'm simply delighted Richard for the kind words that you said about the song and that it moved you enough to cover it. I am delighted with the result and I can only thank you for your work and for your friendship.

The holy 3, Porter,Scotti, and Lennon! LOVED IT! That's more to my liking than, 98% of what's new on the radio. That's what we need more of.

Thanks john
Coming from one of my favourite songwriters that means so much to me. I would also like to point out that in this version Richard performed all the instruments and did the arrangement and the production. I feel that as a producer and arranger that Richie has a great feel for music and a great talent and I do hope to work more with him.
thanks again Richie, I'm still in shock and still playing the song. The singer you chose was great but i'm itching to try and do a new ocal myself to your backing if that's ok but for now i'm simply enjoying and loving your work.

Thanks Hugh!
Wow, John Fry, you made my day. I'm not worthy!
And Ray, what can I say? You've put the song on all your stations and even picked up my two new instrumentals. I wasn't expecting all that. You're simply the best. I can't thank you enough.
Thank you, Dick.
I never want to wake up from this dream.

What a great thing for IAC to have a bunch of artists with so much respect for each other that they are prepared to cover each other's songs like this. We will have to have another option when uploading new songs alongside 'licensed cover' which reads 'Ray Porter Cover' ()

You'll be pleased, Phlegm.
Richard, you've created an excellent cover version of a beautiful original song. It's a great way to begin the work week. A handful of kudos.
Dammit, you DO sound like Lennon.

I couldn't resist doing a new vocal to richies beautiful backing so that's now up on my page. This is now a true collaboration now and in no way a dis-respect to your singers vocal performance which was great but i just had to do it because it's for my mum after all. Thanks Rich for breathing new life into this song and for making me so happy.

I can't take credit for that vocal, srm. Russ Bonagura sings it but I produce it exactly the way I want it and mix it as well. I go to great lengths to find the right singer to match the song and to coach him or her to get the best possible performance. It's one of my best skills as a producer in my opinion. I spend more time on vocals than anything else because a vocal can make or break a song.

Amen to that, brother John Fry. A bad snare sound can kill a whole track.
By the way, the pic you put on my page is so hilarious that I can not stop laughing.
It is true genius. What software did you use to do that? On a MAC? Photo Shop? It is really amazing. I can't wait to show my wife. I must say I consider it a real honor that you did that. I always liked the pic you did of Hugh. Now I feel I've arrived. I've been inducted into the John Fry Hall of Fame Photo Gallery and right along side the Ed Sullivan of the 21st century, Sir Raymond Porter :) I will treasure this picture. Thanks so much.
