Selflessness = Self Destruction
The human race is awful. Almost every time you trust someone, you end up being a fool. Honor is something that you can only find in museums. If you learn every lesson insufferable mankind teaches you, you would be resigned to hiding in a bunker for dear life, protecting little particles of spirit that remained from the mauling society dishes out.
I was a trusting person who didn't even go out on a limb that often when I came onto the internet more than a decade ago. Even the finest people I have met led me down roads of hell. It's a long line of betrayers, thieves, and energy sucking maggots who turn every show of good faith and the benefit of the doubt into Lucy pulling the ball out from Charlie Brown. Don't you ever learn, Charley Brown? People are garbage. They think the golden rule is that they should get the gold even if you are the one working for it. They will let you drown at a whim while they rescue a toy monkey for their dashboard.
I believe in love and giving because you really want to. I expect nothing in return. From an observer's vantage point, what I see resulting from my actions is opportunistic grabbing and elbowing and I still push forward trying to do what's right. It's interesting to see that what's expected of me from these wonderful friends I accumulate is to do what they'd never consider doing for me, not that I'd ever ask. Putting on someone else's shoes in this tempest is a brick wall most people won't tango with. It might make them lose their sickeningly selfish purpose in life, to milk the rest of humanity for every artifact of faith that is maddeningly put forward..
Shall I keep dreaming that goodness breeds goodness or face reality that whatever one gives selflessly is just meat for the greedy takers that pose as reasonable humans, who seize your trust like a weakness, who leave you with a broken spine and hope you recover quickly so they can come back and take some more.

I think perhaps ... (whether, you realize it or not) ... you are conversing with the wrong people, or you are a magnet for A**holes ...
Sure there are plenty of Bozo's out there ready to make themselves feel "bigger" by making you seem "smaller" ... but they are not worth your time anyway ... (at least until they have dealt with their issues) ....
If you are who you profess to be ... then you already know that there are plenty of people out there just like you ... it takes some weed pulling every now and then but in person or on the net, there are plenty of good folks around ...

Here I wasn't gonna venture outside my own thread but I see your havin a tough time. I don't know ya personally P... but I can empathize with your point of view. People can be disapointing especially when you feel you've given your all and it's still not enough. I don't have an answer except to say you seem like a sensitive person who has experienced quite a few misunderstandings along life's travels. Usually it's best to talk openly with people your having issues with but if it's someone online that may not be realistic.

Hi
Questions are more important than answers, fools are my favorite people. You may not have the best fortune with friends but you have great taste in music. I know this as I have just finished listening to the tracks on your station.

I checked out P's station, Nigels, cause you gave it a good report. Actually that's the KIAC Big 50 which is the default station on IAC personal pages.
