Going to an awesome show tonight!
I am seeing The Raveonettes open up for Blonde Redhead. Two really great bands that I have been a fan of for a long time. I am seeing them at Terminal 5 in Manhattan. Newer venue. First time going. Should be fun :-)
Anybody a fan of either band? Anybody see a good show recently? Going to a show? Feel free to mention it here.

I'll let ya know how it goes. Yeah!

I am not going to that show, but recently saw the Fab Faux at Terminal 5. I liked the venue ok. The music sounded good. Have fun!

Thanks Q.
We had lots of fun. Blonde Redhead and the Raveonettes are soooooo good! Weird thing though, all three bands last night had a computer or some sort of rig where they were playing along to backing tracks. I have seen it before but not as prevalently as I saw it last night.
There was one moment where the guitar player for Blonde Redhead lost his little earpiece and the show stopped until a roadie spotted it and fixed it up for him. All I could think (and say) was "That's what happpens when you rely to heavily on technology."
When I saw Iggie and the Stooges play last year you can bet your ass there was none of that shit. Their guitar player had one sound. Loud. He plugged it in and he played his ass off all night. No effects pedals, no nothing. Just plain rock godliness. hehe
The last time I saw Blonde Redhead was probably back in 1998. And they had an extra musician with them on stage to recreate their album sound. I guess technology has done away with their need for extra bodies. Which is cool I guess. Now it's just them and them alone on stage. It's all good. I just thought it interesting that every band had backing tracks. Even the opener. It's a little weird to me.
So, anybody else wanna talk about awesome shows?

I hear ya about the technical mishap, V-Man...I've been seeing gizmos that allow that kind of stuff, and have contemplated it (being a one-man band), but I figure it's a bit too karaoke, if you know what I mean...on the OTHER hand, I figured out how to use a looper pedal gizmo for real-time looping (starting from scratch) and had an excellent response from an open-mic crowd...but even with something like that, if you use it for more than a song or two it gets a bit tiresome (IMHO)...I was inspired to give that a whorl by both David Poe and Andrew Bird (both highly talented artists, each has a page here...)
Ya know what I loved about the friggin BEATLES? Four pieces, rockin' OUT! YEAH! Let's face it - even if they each just played one instrument and did Strawberry Fields Forever we'd STILL LOVE IT.
LOL...

I suppose I might as well admit that one of my fantasies is to get three other rockin' fools and create some four-piece magic...okay, I suppose a fifth fool could conceivably enhance the experience...bass, drums, pair of axes, keyboard...what else do you need to RAAAAAAAAAAAWK?
xxoo,

I saw a great 'show' last night. I did the sound for a younf folk duo call Megson. A husband and wife team of only 21 (ish) years of age. Awsomw vocal skilld combined with guitar and occasional whistle.
