Oh Dear, we can't have that we'll have to think of something good to do together on the Pipeline to cheer everybody up. I guess maybe it's the after effects of the recent celebrations and the anti climax of getting back into the old routine but actually New Year should be the most positive time of the year. We can all re-invent ourselves once more, yes, I know we do it every year but the possibilities are endless. I think it's important to keep your finger on the pulse and your ear to the ground, your nose to the grindstone and your feet on the ground (with your ear presumably), your back to the wall and your head in the clouds, your chin in the air and your eyes on the road........OK Vartan, now you've read all that I bet you've forgotten why you're depressed.
Right I'm off to lie down now.......Hope 2009 is all roses and wine xxx

I agree with Verity that we need something uplifting on the site at this difficult time. It's not only a time for personal re-invention but for the re-invention of the world as we know it. Never has the world been smaller. The macro of life has merged with the micro. The big picture and the little picture have become one. The fate of the world is the fate of the individual. 2009 is the year of Hope vs Fear and never has there been such an abundance of both. Never has there been a more exciting time to be alive or a more frightening one.
Let's harness all this positive and negative energy and do what we can as artists to stay creative and vital. We are a world of communities and this is our little community. We can vent, we can argue, we can create and we can come together. We can let our songs express who we are and what we want. We can share our hopes and fears with each other through our music so that we don't feel alone.
I wish everyone here a happy and creative New Year. May every artist write the best songs of his or her life in 2009. May every listener discover the greatest songs he or she has ever heard in 2009. May you write or hear a song at IAC that changes your life in 2009. It's now....or perhaps never.

This moment has already passed, Vartan. All that exists is the future and the past. As soon as you recognize the present... it is gone. That leaves a lifetime to look forward to.

You only get depressed if you care and if you care then you will write some great music as you already have done.
Your latest songs have been about getting back to the basics and you should continue that trend and before you know it, out of nothing will come the inspiration.
You have nothing to prove in respect to skill and quality so be patient because we all know what you are capable of and you are worth the wait to here more of it.
take care

It's been said that each thought creates and you can change your world by changing your thoughts.
It may sound like new age mumbo jombo but I've found it really works.
I also like the aspect of using those depressed thoughts to channel into a new song that is waiting to be written. See that your thoughts are also felt by many others and "wirte on"!

It comes and goes like anything else. The ebb and flow of the tide. The rising and setting of the sun. The waxing and waning of the moon. The come and go of passerbys on the street. Already since I wrote that I have gone up and down over and over. It's only because I feel what is happening in my life so truly. I am always receptive to others around me. I feel it all. And deeply. I can't help it. Thankfully, I am feeling all the wonderful and positive energy from my fellow musicians here at IAC right now. You have all put a smile on my face that should last me at the very least until I turn off my computer. Haha. I am just being sarcastic there. Seriously thank you all. I will continue to write and you'll have some newness from me soon.

Cheer up - it can always be worse!
And try this - burning frankincense activates poorly understood ion channels in the brain to alleviate anxiety or depression - much better than any drugs :)

We have some comments posted from person that reflect some intelligent minds and thinkers. The fact is that from a world viewpoint and maybe from an individual standpoint anyone could be depressed and certainly many of us are tired. But a person can bring happiness to those around himself, to a child his spouse and parents a friend or for those that enjoys uplifting music and food. If we can be that kind of person and also think spiritual things and how that fits into this world situation, then we can survive mentally and emotionally.
